One of my first answers before and after today was Luke Harper.
The Orton/Wyatt angle should and could have been a big springboard for him.

Samoa Joe to Brock - “Look at me when I’m talking to you or we can straighten this out right now” No one has talked shit like that to Brock and it seem like someone could actually back it up like Joe. Dude was hotter than anything in the company and should have been the one to beat Brock. I absolutely would've bought Joe kicking Brocks ass. Rollins as much as I like him? No.

Since a lot of you have mentioned everyone I was thinking of, I'm going to the women's division and singling out Shayna Baszler.
You had a champion who before being on the main roster beat your biggest women's star and the person who became the longest reigning champion on Smackdown in a triple threat match, a day after competiting in a Wargames match. In the Royal Rumble she eliminates 8 people and makes it to the final two before being eliminated.
Makes her main roster debut, beats up Becky Lynch, murks 5 women in an Elimination Cameronatch including the current champion and when all signs point to her beating Becky at Wrestlemania, she gets pinned clean.
But wait, Becky has to leave due to pregnancy! We put her in MITB, and she doesn't factor into the finish. The belt goes to Askua, who leads the locker room in cheers for Becky leaving to be a mom, and Shayna cuts a promo about how Becky's child is gonna be a loser, getting mega heat! Does she face Asuka who can fight for Becky's honor? No, she faces Natayla... for no reason and then is off the show until July.
Coming back you have stuff like Raw Underground going on, surely we can use this to make Shayna look like a killer and rebuild her for Asuka, who again she beat and has a ready made story as the two most dominate women in NXT history! The two cross paths where Shayna even says when Askua wins the belt back from Sasha, she'll be waiting.
Do we pay that off? Nope, let's stick her with Nia Jax... for reasons! And since then she's played second fiddle to this Lana/Nia storyline when they could be doi g so much more with her. Make her the Horseman killer! Have her face Askua in matches that would rule! Anything at all.
A baffling year of booking... just baffling.

I cannot say as I was only watching NXT at that point and she had worn out her welcome there.

I still remember he told creative he was going to be the one coming out over of this feud and they were all" naaah,Orton will" also the whole anti-authority team. Ziggler Ryback And Eric Rowan were all very over at that time period.Somehow WWE manages to make then all work and get over. And then they were kayfabe fired and jobbed

They wanted her to be, they pushed her trying to get her over, she didnt so they backed off her until they found a niche for her. A better thread for her would be why was she pushed for so long when she was limited and not getting over enough to justify said push.

Hmmmm, most examples involve an outsider (WCW, ECW, and yes I consider NXT to be outsiders too)

She was one of the hottest heels at the end of her NXT run and it paid off big time with the Rhea win WWE f***ed Shayna over from the beginning. Becky attacking her after Shayna won at SvS should have been the ultimate set up for their feud. She losses the Rumble. Then starts getting punked by Becky after taking a bite out her neck, selling her way short. The EC dominance was also then wasted at Mania when she lost Shayna as the bully she is can be over, they flip flopped on it

Christian! I would have loved to see him get a Bret Hart style run, where he out wrestled bigger larger opponents, or an Eddie style run where he did everything in his power to win. Instead he got the belt taken off him as soon as he won it.

I mean they did pull the trigger on Punk imo In a match that had an ass ton of interference. Punk was so buried after this he was Champion within 2 months and went on to hold the title for over a year

Yeah, Punk's run wasn't what it could've been, especially near the end, but they absolutely pulled the trigger on him. That MITB match with Cena and everything that followed afterwards solidified him as a star.
I would've said this even if he didn't just recently die, but Luke Harper. Having him be a silent big man doing a typical big man wrestling style when he was capable of so much more. After some initial awkwardness, his run in AEW was fantastic and showed what he could be capable of both in the ring and in terms of character work as both a threatening cult leader on the wrestling shows and goofing off as the straight man on BTE. I seriously believe he would've been AEW Champion soon enough if not for his tragic passing away. Damn shame that life had other plans.

He looked like he could just kick your ass. Can talk when allowed, and his in ring work was better than he was credited for. (His clothesline looked brutal as hell. I loved that as his finish) I'm not sure on the WWE roster he could have been World Champion, but borderline main eventer/occasional title challenger? Absolutely, yes

Someone's push will get stopped cold in it's track due to the arbatrary changing of the mind of an erratic 75 year old man. Also HHH and everyone else who works in WWE assuming the people who watch Raw and Smackdown are also familiar with NXT and that bringing someone who was a big name in NXT is automatically a pop getter off the bat. Shayna's dominate reign in NXT might as well have been in WXW or ROH because the majority of fans watch those 2 promotions as much as NXT. For the most part Bayley,Paige and Asuka had the same problem when they initially came up.
