Guy is jacked, but an insufferable crigeworthy idiot when he opens his mouth. Should have given him the ruthless silent heel type of gimmick.

Him being silly is what got him over in the first place. Taking away what got some one over is a recipe for failure no matter what it is.

I try not to mind his goofy persona but it just doesn't click for me. He's going for Curly but coming off as more of a Shemp.

If you want serious Big E, read his tweet about Hulk Hogan. Big E is can afford to be silly, given A. he's good at it, and B. you pretty much have to take him seriously when he can do stuff like pick up Mark Henry, who was hurt by his own weight pressing down on the rock solid Big E, who was no worse for wear. He's ludicrously strong, and between that and the New Day's pedigree, he's pretty set when it comes to credibility.

I’d be like telling The Rock to not say jokes in his promos or Hulk Hogan not to flex and say “Brother” after their first world title wins. If that made you money in the first place, why take that away now?

He's a clown outside the ring but once he gets in the ring, he turns it up to another level You know the shit people been wanting for years from a comedy character. The Sheamus feud itself showed that. He's going to joke but when it comes time to whoop ass, he does that

Big E is great at what he does and I really sets him apart. I just don’t enjoy it. His character will develop and evolve over time an probably in the next year or two, he’ll be a more improved Big E. If Talking Smack is any indication, Paul E has taken some interest, so this could only be a good thing.

I think Big E’s hilarious. He reminds me of a friend of mine from high school except he can rip me in half.

Hacksaw Duggan was always presented as being not all there, but he also had the balls to go toe-to-toe with Andre the Giant and Vader. Roddy Piper and Randy Savage would cut absolutely bonkers promos but then do anything they could to rip their opponent apart in the ring.

I feel like most of the whole “I want so-and-so to be a silent badass” thing is just so they don’t have to read Vince’s scripts and/or “jokes”.

WENT TO WORK ON THE BOY!
I wouldn't put too much stock in these youtube promos as part of his character either and him being "taken seriously". They're always 100 times sillier than stuff you actually see on TV cos they're not scripted so they just get to be dumb and mess around. I barely even think they count as part of the actual show! I know New Day do silly stuff on TV too but it's never quite as "wacky".

You have a place where people can cut promos, they can get anywhere instantaneously, convey what you want from the character outside of the show constraints...and 99% of the time, they’re non-canon. It’s just weird.

There is a funny video I want to say from either this year or last year with the IIconics with them trying to sell him a T shirt and him just playing off them completely having fun

Because otherwise, it feels like it’s there to fill YouTube channel space and not much else.

Because they don't know their ass from their face All that extra promo time and segments you have on shows can be used for shit like this. Hey, check out this segment with the iiconics from their social media. Even now, Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans is one of the best things going on social media. Why can't you show their escapades in a segment which will prop them up big time I know I/we sound like broken records with this shit but this is dumb on how they handle promotion. It can't be TNA levels of dumb cause they did no advertising but this isn't too far removed

It's the same way one on one interviews with Michael Cole would really further someone's character and be well produced and they would only have them on the website.

Let him be goofy on the mic!
There's too many people in this company that are forced into sounding SERIOUS and it makes everyone sound the same. He can handle business in the ring and then talk about all the buildings he's built on your butt in the back. If anything it makes it better because then he's backing all this goofy talk up in the ring and can force someone to shut him up in the ring if they don't like it.
