My friends and I were just talking about the upcoming wrestling games next year, and chatting about our preference from previous games. What kind of menu music do you prefer? Personally I like it when wrestler's themes play for snippets of 1min or 2 but on some games the licensed music sound good too

I always liked custom music written for the games like the stuff from the N64 games through Here Comes the Pain. It wasn't always good, but I always preferred it to wrestler themes/licensed music.

Now you have the No Mercy menu music stuck in my head. "Dip dippity dog...socko!"

Probably a custom theme, but wrestler themes are good too... except for how they continually screw it up in the WWE games, either through making them cut off so early in as to be pointless or by picking godawful ones and not letting you skip them, depending on the game.
Licensed music is just a pointless waste of money. I won't pretend there haven't been some good songs I've been exposed to through it but I don't think it actually adds anything to the experience and a lot of the time most of it's crap.

I'm most nostalgic for the custom ones made for a game (see HCTP below), but if the game has great song choices for licensed music I'm down (SVR04 OST bayyybeeeeee).

Damn this music takes me back. It's a great tune as well. Maybe the best wrestling game menu music.

My favorite has been like for years in the 2k games, Finn Balor's music cuts out before it actually starts.

What, you don't appreciate Boys in the Hood being over six minutes and One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer being over eight minutes, while both being completely unskippable? I actually like both songs but they can get pretty grating as menu music.

The first three SmackDown vs. RAW games had perfect soundtracks for the time. The numetal on the first one, the heavy mix of music on '06, and the entire '07 soundtracks are great compilation albums on their own. Aside from those, I'd lean towards custom music, but there has to be a variety. For every 'Dig Dig Diggity', there are a million 'dramatic WWE '12 menu theme'.

Custom music is great but I'll take licensed songs if they fit the content. Most sports games just go for big names but SvR had a good mix of bangers from lesser-known acts like Fireball Ministry and The Core that fit perfectly.

When playing Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 (and I played this months ago, too), I remember enjoying hearing the Legacy theme a lot, as well as the 2009-2010 Smackdown theme (remember "Let it Roll"?). Some of those themes were nice to hear. Also, if you really want to go old school, this theme was a banger.

I'd say a mix of all three. But honestly custom soundtracks are the most memorable. At least to me.
