Heard this on a radio station, where they pretty much said sports fans are just going to block this past season from their memories and producers of various networks have pretty much said to avoid showing replay's or highlight packages of the COVID era once things are back to normal as it just brings too much bad memories.
Sports operate in seasons and it's easy just to cut a season from memory, wrestling is linear and a lot of important things happened during the COVID era
Do you want the COVID era referenced or would you prefer the WWE follows suit and just try to ignore it as much as possible.

I have no idea how I'm going to feel about the past in the future.

I think the radio station you were listening to needed some random time filler so they went with the generic COVID SEASON story. It's their "it's a slow day we need material" topic of choice. At least it's better than hearing "Pete Rose Yay/Nay for the Hall of Fame" for the four thousandth time.
on the topic of the WWE, I could see them talking about it a lot because "WE GAVE HUMANITY WHAT THEY WANTED! WE SAVED YOU FROM BOREDOM WHEN EVERYBODY ELSE GAVE UP ON YOU" or something super bullshitty like that. Kinda like how they bragged about being on TV after 9/11.

Honestly I feel like the lasting impression of WWE in 2020 for me is going to be, "Oh yeah, that's the year when they let all the creeps get off with zero consequences, had no problem with people saying a bunch of racist shit, and kept letting people be idiots in regards to a life-and-death situation, while destroying wrestlers' ability to have fun off the clock." This whole year's been incredibly mask off for them.

It’s like 2020 as a whole, I’m drinking it away so I’ll never remember it

When the world goes back to normal, I never want to hear about the Coronavirus or cases or deaths ever again.

The quality of the product far surpassed my expectations given the circumstances, and they should get credit for that.

WWE's video packages are always top notch. They can find a way to make it look good.
I imagine that in Wrestlemania retrospectives, the two cinematic matches are pretty much all we'll see from 2020.

This whole year's been incredibly mask off for them. Don't forget the time shitcanned a load of wrestlers and staff in cost-cutting measures while recording record profits.
I think speaking generally this has been my worst year as a wrestling fan for several reasons, I haven't enjoyed it at all, so like most other things in 2020 I will not be at all sorry to see the back of it. As someone has pointed out though, I'm banking on the company using their continuing to run shows despite everything to blow smoke up their own arses for a good while yet, sort of like how Stephanie McMahon did at the opening of Wrestlemania.

trying to keep wrestling going during a situation like this is going to be hopefully seen as completely psychopathic, unecessary and stupid

It's the year I decided I'm literally never giving them a penny again because apparently undeniable photo evidence that your wrestlers are rapists, paedophiles, groomers and domestic abusers isn't enough to fire them unless they actually admit it, in a year where you fire 100 people just to make your profits look better.
Genuinely, eat shit Vince and Triple H. And Devlin, Wolfgang, Coffey and Scala stay the hell out of Britwres.

As far as the tv product is concerned... they did the best they could.
As far as backstage... well...

I actually don’t want the crowds to come back to WWE. They’ve done a much better job using the product without crowds than they did with them.

Random thought...
Will not having live crowds for like a year finally be the death of the "WHAT" chant? I'm guessing no, because that would be too nice of a thing. And we can't have nice things.

I'm sure in highlight packages in the future there might be a shot or two used from this era maybe not showing the missing crowd

Your mad. I tell you what I want them back just so I don't have to see extra lazer lights flickering like crazy in the background during a entrance.

I feel like the pre-thunderdome era will be blocked off (minus the cinematic matches and Drew winning the title), but the Thunderdome set up doesn’t seem too bad

Nah I think crowds are going to take every opportunity to make as much noise as possible (unless it's a Jinder match), if anything I'd expect it to increase. Personally I expect my moral indignation will fade as we settle into a new normal and they'll drag me back in eventually. I'd want as few reminders of why I stopped watching as possible.
