considering the Attitude Era is famous for the fact everybody had something to do, it's surprising how few people mattered in this Royal Rumble.
besides the McMahon/Austin story, I only really remember Mabel getting dragged away and Chyna eliminating Mark Henry.
I'm not sure where it fits in worst Rumbles, because there has been endings that have left a more sour taste in the mouth

Personally for me no I think 95, 2012 & 2015 are worse. 95 and 12 for being jobberific and 2015 for WWE being tone deaf. The 2015 was actually good.....until Daniel Bryan got eliminated.

2016 was for me. Triple H winning the match and the WWE Championship in 2016 was just ridiculous and just another cog in the wheel of the failed megaface Roman Reigns experiment.
The only good thing about it was AJ's debut.

How could it not be close? Vince & Austin spend about two minutes in the ring before they leave & a parade of geeks does nothing for an hour? It's easily bottom 4 imo.

Because the storyline of it is what was good. Who thought Vince was going to win the Rumble that year? Hell, the 1997 didn't even have 30 WWF guys who could participate. They had to borrow and use some guys from AAA.

The worst Royal Rumble is the one where the fans hate the winner so much that one of the most beloved stars of all time can't stop the monsoon of boos.

2015 is an incoherent mess from 20 mins or so in, seemingly to spite the fans who paid to watch it. 1999 was a case of overthinking a simple storyline (Austin is the lone wolf with a bounty on his head among gang wars, he's number 1 in the rumble, he has to win it - thats enough), 1995 is just weak but fast.
1991 might be the worst over all in that for all that talent, nothing happens.

That's my guilty pleasure Rumble. The first stage is weak even if it does help establish Austin as a main event talent. Nearly everything from Bret's entry onwards however is brilliant

I'll say 1999, as this was the year Russo somehow got even bigger into having a wrestling match/show with as little wrestling as possible and as many smoke and mirrors as he could fit in there.
It was like a 1999 Raw match/storyline fused with the Rumble.

95 was weak due to the roster, but at least you had Shawn and Davey Boy to get behind.
‘99 was bad plus the ending felt like a low blow.
‘15 was bad plus it felt like a slap in the face.
It’s def between 99 and 15 for me. Just depends on if I wanna take a low blow or a slap to the face.

Love the 99 Rumble. It told it’s story and changed things up a little. The Rumble is the most popular match and it’s mostly shit. It’s just a parade of guys coming out. Even 92, the one everyone says is the best, people only talk about Heenan’s commentary and Hogan being a poor sport. I think that’s telling.

Not for me. It at least had some memorable moments. Off the top of my head, the 99 Rumble had Vince winning, the white coats coming for Kane, Undertaker and Mabel, and Edge poking Droz in the eyes when he told him to 'get over here'.
95 has terrible participants, but it was unique, what with the shorter entrance times.
For me, 97 is probably the worst. Only memorable moment is Austin's reaction when Bret comes out. Also, the timer wasn't working at the beginning of the match. That's unforgivable.

That one were Santino should have one! Had a chance to make a new face underdog challenger people would have got behind doesn't have to stay at the top of the card and you could have still pushed some others as your top draw for mania. It would have been a fun experiment to have underdog Santino win and go after the title like a second division team making it to the FA Cup final. Instead we get a guy no one likes.

There were many highlights : The performance of Shawn Michaels. Flair's reaction to Piper's entrance. Savage going wild on Jake the Snake. Hogan eliminating both Undertaker and Berzerker within seconds of each other.

Sitting in the corner letting Piper and Flair fight, picking his moment, how he slid out of the ring like lightning when Savage showed up. Bossman running wild on Flair, that crescent kick! The finger wag. Sgt Slaughter's elimination being whipped over the corner. There were loads of great moments.

Plus, '92 had high stakes with the title on the line, and it's hard to say it isn't the best Rumble roster in history, so it felt like there were a lot of people with genuine chances of winning the whole thing, which definitely upped the drama in the moment it was happening. I've always thought that Rumbles fell off once Pat Patterson wasn't around full-time to plan them out. I haven't watch the '99 Rumble since I saw it live back in the day, to be honest, but I do recall it ending and feeling "huh, so that was a thing." Still, at least it told a story.
