Roman has been regularly main eventing for 7 years now 2015 - 2021
That is longer than:
Bret 92 - 97
Shawn 96-98 & 2003
Austin 98-2001
Rock 98-2002
Foley 1999-2000
Flair 91-93
Yokozuna 93-94
What is also the most odd, is that Roman's only significant reign and story came this year. The WWE has literally never spent THIS much time trying to make someone a main eventer. I think his current run is great, but his span on top is one of the longest in company history, and he's done very little of note compared to everyone else on that list
*yeah you can argue some of these guys were on top a little longer, but i just used approx dates from first world title win/mania main event to last world title win*

Honestly if WWE knew what they were doing, ambrose would have been the top face for 5 years and THEN reigns would take over

One more year and he pretty much surpasses Cena too.

Semantics but I’d say 6 years so far.

I guess it sort of depends on what you count as being on top. He also has had the... I don't want to say "benefit" of being gone for leukemia and then the quarantine, where he was gone for a good chunk of time, too. It, in addition to the heel turn, helped matters in refreshing him.

Crazy that roughly 5 of them had been so horribly miscast and unbearable.

And then you look at the number of WM main events he was handed and compare them to others...

This is why I wish more people would come and go from the company. In fact I wish all companies would do 3-5 years with a talent and let them go somewhere else. Would make the entire industry so much more entertaining

I do think it's an undersold point when people discuss what they like about older WWF/WWE compared with the modern era: consider that Hulk Hogan's run at the top of the company, the time when he was selling more tickets than any single attraction in wrestling history, lasted from 1984 through spring of 1992. Like, that's Hulk Hogan we're talking about, the guy who's name was bigger than the company and the industry itself for a good while, the guy who wasn't on weekly TV all that often for most of his run as the main guy, and even he got overexposed and started bringing lesser returns to the company after 8 years.
Ever since WCW was bought, it's led to a pretty large scale stagnation of WWE's main event scene, with names like Triple H, Cena, Orton, and Reigns not just being around for a few years at the top, but for over a decade in many cases, and that's in an era with weekly multi-hour prime time TV plus PPVs. Sustaining that isn't easy, plain and simple.

In all that time, he's only really felt like a true top star since his heel turn.

Would make the entire industry so much more entertaining Back in 2015, I wanted Ziggler to go to ROH based off that random comment he made on NXT Season 4 when he saw two wrestlers shake hands before their match started.
