The Incredible Petrified World.
Well it scores high on the John Carradine scale... he is in the movie... he is NOT in a laboratory... he moves to multiple locations and interacts with other important people in the cast...
But ... I believe Bill Warren put it best. "The film is so uneventful that it's puzzling as to why it was ever made....it has no possible reason for existence"

#118 - The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2
*Blu-Ray
An improvement on part one. It's grim, while also giving proper closure to the series. Still, this could've been something special if they had made it into one two and a half hour movie instead of over stretching it to more than four hours. [***]

36. Extinction
After enduring nightmares about an alien invasion, a man has to save his family from an alien invasion. It’s kind of low budget but the story has a few good twists.

108. Mecanix* *DVD* I really wasn’t in the right frame of mind to watch this one. To properly experience Mecanix you really need to be f***ed up on some good hallucinogenics. I don’t do those but I was still able to enjoy this though. It’s a predominantly silent post apocalyptic tale with stop motion effects right out of a Tool music video. It was very vague, dark, arty and reminded me a lot of the early-1980’s anime Angels Egg (both revolving around an egg, or in this case an embryo), but with the overall presentation you’d expect from Unearthed Films. There was some nasty gore but what interested me more were the stop motion creatures and the tortured noises they made. Those were some things out of nightmares. Not to mention the sepia colouring of the whole film. Definitely f***ed up, and definitely incredible. I don’t do drugs but I’ll probably get all drunk some night and watch this again.

#119 - Shoplifters
*Hulu
A heartbreaking, often too realistic look at poverty. The characters are easy to sympathize with and by the end, you're totally hooked on this emotional story. [****]

#120 - Stowaway
*Netflix
It gives more character driven stuff than sci-fi thriller but Stowaway works because of that. It's interesting to see how these people interact in their dire situation. The performances are good but it feels like Toni Collette is kind of wasted as she should have more to do. [***½]

75. On the Borderline - Watched this on DVD. It's on this compilation DVD set that I got from the library, so I thought "why not?" This film is...well, hard to really rate, at least depending on the grounds (and I usually don't like giving star ratings). It may be sold as an action movie but the action doesn't come until the climax. Not that I mind stuff like that but really the movie is mostly a dramatic thriller about a family that got stranded in a small town and have no money to continue their cross county trip. So basically one person has to do some shady job to get paid. Now I didn't mind Eric Mabius or Marley Shelton in their roles. The villain is one shady dude and the actor did a damn good job at playing that role. R. Lee Ermey was good for what he had to work with, too. It was definitely a small budget film and it's really more of a film that you could probably kill 90 minutes if you're bored. You could do better, but you could do worse, too.

109. Dead and Buried* *DVD* This was a really awesome early-1980’s horror movie that really reminded me of Fulcis work of the time, just not as gory. But still really gory. It was part zombie movie and part...f*** I’m drunk...”village of the DON’T GO TO THAT VILLAGE”. And it had the guy who played Grandpa Joe in the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

110. Demonia* *Tubi* Another disappointing late-career entry in the Fulci database. It could have been awesome. But even without gore there are so many other better religious pieces from that era. Watch the Church, don’t waste your time with this. Watch the Church!

Ratter (2015) This movie answers the question, “How can you make a movie starring Ashley Benson with as little effort as possible?” This is a cyber stalking horror movie where Benson plays a newly relocated grad student in New York City. Benson has her fans as she was featured in the TV series Pretty Little Liars. However, my knowledge of her is limited to her being the third most famous girl in Spring Breakers (2012). I can’t knock Benson though. It’s a testament to her charisma and attractiveness that so many people were able to make it through this stinker. It was advertised as a horror movie, but is more psychological thriller. Unfortunately it falls into that trap of lesser psychological thrillers of having so much nothing happen. Having nothing happen can be effective. It can give gravity to a situation or balance a more high energy scene. But here it is just dull and uninteresting. The only focus of the movie is Benson being stalked through various electronic devices. We see what the stalker sees, but throughout most of the film never see the stalker. So it’s essentially a whodunnit. Is it the ex-boyfriend, Red Herring, uh, I mean Alex. The new love interest? Something more unusual like her NYC best friend? I won’t spoil it except to say that the movie has an, “Oh f*** you!” ending. The kind of ending you shout at the screen since the filmmakers aren’t there in person to take the well earned abuse.

40. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)41. Street Fighter (1994) 42. Khraniteli (1991) 43. Psych 2: Lassie Come Home (2020)I just realized that Woody the Coroner also played the evil businessman in No Holds Barred. I don't know how I never knew that before. So found this while trying to get my moneys worth with my Peacock purchase for the WWE Network. This was ok I guess. Shawn and Gus riffing off each other is great, and Lassiter's stuff was good as well, but otherwise this was pretty mediocre. The story felt stretched, the mystery overly convoluted, and honestly the franchise is just worn out. I love Psych back in the day, but it really is time to just let it rest.

#121 - Mortal Kombat
*HBOMax
What an absolute blast this movie was. It's certainly not going to win any awards but it works so well because it's true to what it should be. It honors the games, has gory action, and over the top characters. There's not much more I could ask for. [***½]

37. Coming to America
Eddie Murphy in his prime backed up by an all star cast with the added bonus of a Mortimer and Randolph Duke cameo. Loads of fun and now we are all ready to watch the sequel.

Had a bit of a Dolph Lundgren double feature. I watched both of these on DVD.
76. Hidden Agenda (2001) - Okay, I don't mind spy thrillers. In fact, I enjoy them and not all of them have to have nonstop shootouts and melee fights. However, I just did not feel this movie. It was clearly similar to Eraser (note to self: watch that movie again), which I remember enjoying. However, it was trying so hard to be a serious thriller but it did not work. I could barely keep myself interested. Some of the action scenes were okay, though.
77. Detention (2003) - Okay, this movie was bad. Bad acting, terrible direction, and it clearly knocked off Die Hard, The Breakfast Club (in some areas), and at first it felt like a knock-off of 1996's The Substitute (I must watch the sequels finally, and I've been telling myself to watch the first movie again as well). However, although this was a bad film, that did not mean that I did not enjoy it, even it was for the wrong reasons. There were some bits that I found myself laughing because of its badness, like the bad acting, as well as some of the action scenes. The villains were definitely something else. The main villain had the look of a Eurotrash guy with his fashion sense and frosted hair (something that seemed dated at the time this had come out, as that was more of a "turn of the millennium" thing as I think it ended in 2001, 2002 tops), but he was entertaining as he chewed up the scenery. The henchmen looked like they were straight out of a beat-'em-up game. Not to mention that their accents were awful. But still, I found myself enjoying this movie, like having a good laugh because of how bad it was.

111. They Live *DVD* The first time I saw this a year or two ago I think my expectations were WAY TOO high. So I liked it but was a little disappointed. Knowing what I was getting this time I ended up enjoying it a lot more. Plus I watched it with my oldest son and his enjoyment of it magnified my own. A great sci-fi movie with a plot that becomes more and more relevant as time goes on.

112. Hatchet 3* *DVD* This was on par, if not better than the second movie. It was pretty funny but only because the kills were so over the top. My only complaint was how useless Danielle Harris’ character was. Despite being the star character of the franchise she could have been cut entirely from the movie and it wouldn’t have changed a thing.

113. Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End *Disney+* This one has a lot of problems. First most the franchise just caught caught up in its own hype and went too far, forgetting it was just supposed to be goofy adventure movies. It’s too much. And speaking of “too much”; almost two hours and forty-five minutes!? That’s way too much. My biggest problem was everyone being hyped for Keith Richards cameo’ing as Jack Sparrows father. Firstly; he added nothing to the movie. And secondly; the Rolling Stones f***ING SUCK. Yeah I’m really not forward to inevitably watching the next two.

My take on the Pirates franchise has always been this - the second one is a step down from the first, the third is a step down from the second, the fifth is a step down from the third, and fourth is just horrible on almost all levels. Seriously, who read that script to the fourth one and said "yep, the Preacher and the Mermaid, that's what we need to go all in on!"?
