So Netflix has removed the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender series from its upcoming listing. I always had a feelings this probably was never going to happen.

Honestly either a full blown interquel or some adaptations of the Avatar and Korra comics would be a much better show for Netflix anyway.

They pissed off and drove away the franchise's creators, they knew nobody would buy anything they'd tried to sell after that.

considering the logisitics of filming this sort of thing during a global pandemic it probably wasn't going to get made this year as locations would be impossible to film in/travel to and the cost of cgi'ing everything apart from the actors would have cost far too much. losing the original creators was a big blow in terms of direction for the plot/direction of the show as new people will have vastly different ideas on how to do the show (hell look at the disaster that the film was.)
I can see it being delayed more than cancelled as netflix know there is an audience still for the shows (both the original and korra)

Based on the rumblings that were going on about how they wanted an aged up, white cast with more sex and violence, good riddance.

What are we going to get instead? A remastered and probably cropped animated OG Avatar? An animated adapatation of the Avatar/Korra comics or interquel with the surviving voice cast?

I think a live action adaptation of the Kyoshi novels could be something they should try.
