I’m all for comparing the two companies and critiquing their actions, but how the companies choose to honor and pay tribute to a man passing away is not the topic for that. I would hope this thread gets locked.

Yeah, I am honestly fine with what they've done. It made sense to me that AEW would do more, for a variety of reasons such as having more time, it being where he was working when he passed, etc.
Additionally, outside of I guess Mitchell's stupidity, I am willing to cut people some slack for the emotions they're feeling. Grief very easily can turn to anger in the moment.
All of this is bigger than any one company, and I don't want to judge people for how they mourn.

I mean we don't know the full details of anything, INCLUDING the fact the man had a family that might have wanted to wwe to hold off on anything lengthy until the AEW show.

Jesus suffering f***. WWE has done many, many things wrong and deserve to be criticised for it.
But for this? Come the f*** on.

They had a graphic, they had a bunch of references to him (and put up a video showing context alongside the references), and there's word going around they've been filming more content. It'd be nice if they did the ten bell salute but it's far from essential, they've done plenty. Where can this video be found? I looked on their YouTube page and couldn't find anything matching what you described.

I don’t know that they’ve done a ten bell salute since Benoit.

I don't think WWE did anything wrong in handling this either. They let their talent and commentators pay tribute during shows and on social media, including promoting their competition's show on said social media. They did a graphic. They're supposed to be putting out a video package that might air this Friday on Smackdown. I don't think it was their place to do a whole tribute show to Brodie because he wasn't working for them at the time. That was on AEW and they rose to the occasion wonderfully. Maybe a ten bell salute is all they could've done that they didn't and even then, I think that was more appropriate for AEW to do for him.
I criticize WWE a lot on things, and justifiably so. But I think they handled this as well as can be expected, especially as Brodie wasn't working for them at the time. I really hate that this has to be yet another avenue for certain fans to turn this into another WWE vs. AEW dick measuring contest. A good man died who meant a lot to a lot of people across the entire industry. This should go beyond interpromotional rivalries.

Can we not do with all this? Especially with them likely to do a tribute video on Friday anyway (not that I buy the “Well, he was mostly a Smackdown guy” on that front because, well, who really cares about that stuff?). Also I’m not going to blame Curt Hawkins for saying something because, unlike the rest of us, he knew the guy and what he meant to the locker room at large. I’m not going to tell someone how they grieve even if I don’t quite agree with it and also because he wasn’t the only one to say something (Kevin Nash was another). Because I got suspended for saying too much last time, lol All I say is I agree. I agree with points above that they did enough and ultimately the most important thing is all the love this man has been shown Who did the most is irrelevant. Wrestling world lost a brother, and this whole week has been used to honor him

Has ANY wrestling company ever done a massive tribute for someone who died while working for their main competition?

I wouldn't expect an Owen Hart/Eddie Guerrero style tribute show.. But a brief 10 Bell Salute or Video Package wouldn't hurt.
(I didn't watch so if they did then cool)

I don't get this "stealing the moment" stuff No one wanted this moment The right thing to do was to give him a ten bell salute, a nice video package and maybe give some of his friends the chance to pay tribute to him. WCW did a show for Owen. So there was really no excuse to give him such a half assed tribute when so many of their workers were close to him. They did A match for Owen. Because they had Bret on the roster and it was some time after. Don’t get it twisted. This is a similar situation to Heenan giving props to Monsoon when he died. Carve out a moment of respect but in the grand scheme of things, they it really wasn’t their place to be the torch bearer on tributes for that. No, WCW had a tribute video for Owen. I believe it was on the Nitro a week after he passed.

Can we not do with all this? It's Thursday, and you know what that means. People on the internet complaining about things that probably don't even merit complaining about.

I'm the first one to shit all over Vince being horrible at everything, but in this instance I'm glad AEW was able to do their full on tribute show first.
Whether incidentally or on purpose, I'm glad WWE is waiting until (possibly) Friday to do more than what they've done so far.
