www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/56388596Murray Walker has passed away at the age of 97. He always be the voice of motorsport for me and I think, at least in the UK, if you asked somebody to do an impression of a motorsport commentator, you'd get a Murray impersonation.

Genuinly gutted by this news.
As someone who grew up watching Formula 1 and BTCC in the 90's.. His voice was planted over many memories.. Like when I stayed up to watch Damon Hill win the 1996 Championship.
Rest in Peace.

He was always my favourite commentator of all time.
His calls made motor racing so entertaining.
RIP Murray Walker

Murray Walker was my GOAT sports commentator, not just of motor sports, of ALL sports. Dude had ridiculous energy and enthusiasm, to the point that his mouth sometimes outran his brain (âThis car is absolutely unique, except for the one behind it which is exactly the sameâ).

I know he often made mistakes, but he would quickly own those mistakes and adding to them to make them work. That was apart of the charm for Murray, these days when I watch sports and a commentator would make a mistake and just move one and not correct or own it. See you can make a mistake and still make it entertaining... I knew people who only watched the motorsports he called just to hear him. How often does a caller come round that people who will watch a sport that doesnât interest them, just to hear them? Iâm sure itâs not just Murray, but itâs very rare.
Anyway one thing else is he was also great at was his quick wit and thinking on the fly... like in this classic moment:

Saw a suggestion that I like, which is to rename a corner at Silverstone for him.

And Josh Hart makes his Top Fuel debut a successful won, winning the season opener NHRA Gatornationals. Hart, a Florida native, becomes the first person to win his debut Top Fuel race since the late, great Darrell Russell back in 2001 at the NHRA Winternationals.

First F1 qualifying session this morning. Looks like Verstappen has the car to beat in Bahrain

Alpha Tauriâs got a rocket under them, mixing it right with Mercedes and Red Bull there in Q1.

I get the feeling that Tsunoda is going to be this season's driver that is just fun to watch.

So based on qualifying form, it looks like itâll be a proper head-to-head between Hamilton in the Mercedes and Verstappen in the Red Bull this year, with Bottas and Perez as the clear wingmen. Alpha Tauri look like being big improvers and could pinch some more wins with a bit of luck, McLaren are maintaining their solid form from last season, and Ferrari look like less of a basket case as they start their bounce back. Aston Martin and Alpine seem to have regressed slightly from last year (although it could just be from Vettel and Ocon having some bad luck as opposed to a bad car), while Alfa Romeo might have gotten a clean break away from the two bottom teams in Williams and Haas.

Yup, I'm optimistic for things being closer up front this year. Hopefully less occasions where whoever (mostly Hamilton) made it through the first few corners in front ran off into the distance while all the fun stuff was happening in the midfield. The issue hasn't been Hamilton winning, it's that the title's been pretty much decided by halfway through the season. Guess we'll find out more about how things are going to be after tomorrow.

Get in there Max! More of the same for the rest of the season. Iâm a Brit and both like and respect Hamilton as a person and a driver - even if he doesnât always do himself any favours. However, Iâm a fan of the sport first, so if this year is more competitive than recent years, it can only be a good thing.

I get the feeling that Tsunoda is going to be this season's driver that is just fun to watch. Japanese drivers seem to be either slow or erratic. Heâs very much in the latter category from what Iâve seen, but in a skilful and controlled way!

15 minutes until we go racing in Bahrain since they've gone back to starting on the hour.
They had a nice tribute to Murray on Sky.
Vettel will be starting from the back due to a penalty for ignoring yellows during qualifying.
