Between the team looking dead ass at the end, Shuster's antics, the way Brown left 2 years ago....at what point is it OK to look at Mike Tomlin and start asking questions? Itβs fair. I said that last year about Tomlin but then he came into this year shutting people up. However, that finish to this team season was horrendous. His seat is still secure but the rumblings are going to start if Steelers get off to a slow start next season unless Ben retires -- then they have nothing at QB and when you got nothing at QB you've screwed no matter how awesome your defense is like the Bears are

His seat is still secure but the rumblings are going to start if Steelers get off to a slow start next season I made the comparison at about the 9-0 mark that they were this years version of last years Patriots. A really impressive looking record bolstered by playing lousy teams and having some straight up luck on their side. You *knew* that the bottom was going to fall out and once Washington punched them in the face, it was all over. The defense is legit but Big Ben don't got it no more A few years ago he would have been able to will this offense ahead but he's done and Steelers owe that man $40 mill. I doubt they extend him to lessen the blow so they most likely will cut him

I think they cut him or "force" him to retire because that's $40 mill on the books you saving by letting Ben go Now, next question is who can get you get. Steelers aren't flashy in that they are going to take a shot at DeShaun Watson even though they should since they are in win now mold. Next best option is Sam Darnold who can turn into a winning QB but he needs to sit as a backup for a year to get rid of all the Gase stank on him. So, they either sign up a vet or run with Mason Rudolph. Jimmy G while flawed will still be wanted especially by the Pats since Bill knows how to use him. But, can swipe him up. Dalton, Marriota and Fitzpatrick are other options as well.

This year is the first time it truly feels like a new era in the AFC. Bills and Browns actually having a modicum of success while the Patriots and Steelers are well and truly dead and now the Chiefs are the gatekeepers.

Agree with most of what you said with one exception: The Patriots are not gonna be top of the heap in the immediate future, but with the 15th overall pick and (what stands at the moment as) roughly $60 million to spend, they might not be as dead as you think.

Until they figure out the QB position and learn how to draft they're gonna have issues, Brady covered a ton of their f***ups.

Will they be back in the AFC title game next January? Unlikely. But with some returning pieces on defense, I think the plan is to draft a QB, sign a veteran for a bridge, and go get some help on offense. They got to 7-9 this year with an atrocious lack of talent in key places. If they upgrade, there's no reason to think they won't be fighting for a playoff spot next year.

They won seven games with the decaying body of Cam Newton unable to throw a football. They're not far off, BUT they need a QB, and thats of course the hardest part. If they hit in the next couple years they're right back in the playoffs. You can question Belichick's drafting but the guy can coach and he's always going to be at an advantage that way.

I have 2 thoughts: 1) As I've said before, there's something about Mike Tomlin's inability to reign in any of these guys from pulling this crap that should be worrisome to the front office 2) The remarkable thing is he's acting like a total dink as he's headed into free agency. Not exactly wise for your stock to be pulling this crap, especially as the team went down in flames.

Not only that, but he was missing half of his defensive starters and a usually dependable Julian Edleman missed half the year and was injured the part he *did* play. You give him a respectable QB this year and they very well might have still made the playoffs
