33. Super Mario RPG
I only last did a playthrough of it last year, but I love the game to death and it's very breezy so it's easy to return to over and over again. This time around did it in on the SNES Classic - last time I believe was on the Wii U - so at least mixed it up a bit, though not the first time I've played through it on here. I actually have a Japanese cartridge of it despite not having a Super Famicom just for the novelty of it.

34. Kirby's Avalanche
It has a soft spot for me for being a game I got as a birthday present when I was a little kid from my great grandparents... but goddamn I don't like Puyo Puyo. I pushed myself through it this time but I really doubt I'm ever playing any variation of this game again.

Finally beat Horizon Zero Dawn - took me 2 or 3 attempts of starting the game to get into it, but I finally did and I'd put it down as one of my all-time favorites.
I've also got all the trophies except the New Game + and Ultrahard difficulty ones.....man, I don't know about that ultrahard trophy.

35. Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers
It's Street Fighter 2, not sure what there is to say about it. Did a run through the SNES version as Ryu.

36. Pokemon Black
Goddamn I did not realize how much more I like this than all of the generations that have come after it until I actually sat down and replayed it. It had a lot of little annoyances to go back to even - like the pretty pitiful Pokemon selection - and I spent a lot of it kind of half-wishing I was playing Black 2 instead, but it was still a lot of fun to go back to. The story works way better than any game that came after it because it's actually willing to give characters depth and have things happen rather than being a constant flood of, "Golly we're such good friends!" and the locales had a lot of personality to them.
It hasn't aged the best, because you're kind of just spending the entire game fighting Watchog over and over, there's a pretty massive amount of grinding expected of you between finishing Victory Road and fighting the Elite Four that makes the endgame kind of a drag, and you do feel the lack of a lot of quality-of-life improvements that have come since like not needing to have an empty spot in your party for gifts and getting experience for captures, but still very much recommend going back and replaying it if someone hasn't in a long time.
Kind of split between doing the postgame or moving to Black 2 though I'll probably play something or other else first before doing either of those.

18. Summer Heat Beach Volleyball
Not sure if this really counts because I only went through arcade mode, and not the summer tour mode. But I may do that soon.
I remember when this came out, people thought that this was the PS2's answer to DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball. In reality, it's really just a volleyball game, and it has playable male characters as well. It's actually a pretty fun game, but I still believe that Outlaw Volleyball and Beach Spikers had better mechanics.

What a fun thread, wish I could remember everything I've finished this year, but this weekend I added the Alex the Kidd remake (Switch) to my list.

37. Super Mario 64 DS
On revisiting this for the first time since really back when it came out I have mixed feelings leaning negative. I do respect that it is trying to be notably different instead of just a cashgrab port and just how much content it adds, but the controls really don't work very well even on a 3DS (which is what I was playing it on) and often so finicky as to be infuriating, the character switching is a pain in the ass, and a lot of the changes feel entirely arbitrary. I feel like if nothing else you'd have a lot stronger of an experience if you made it entirely possible to stick to one of the four playable characters at all times instead of constantly having to swap between them.

I can tell someone's British/Irish (unless I'm completely wrong on this), have no clue why we all call it Alex the Kidd when it's just Alex Kidd, it's always baffled me

I feel like I’ve played years worth of games the past few months, mostly due to how good the next gen consoles have been and backward compatibility being such a focus. I bought a Series X in March and was lucky enough to snag a PS5 a few weeks ago. I’ve managed to finish the following games since March :-
1. Red Dead Redemption 2 - One of the few games that I’ve bought twice, bought it on Series X after buying it for PS4 when the game launched.I stopped playing it around chapter 4 on PS4 because of the frame rate was all over the place at Saint Denis. On Series X, it was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had, also the SSD and quick resume saved me a bunch of time. I put around 35 hours.
2. Witcher 3 - I bought the GOTY on Sale for really cheap on the series X, RPG’s aren’t usually my thing and the game was a bit of a chore at the start but I’m glad I stuck around, once I got used to the mechanics, I really enjoyed the game, finished the main story at around 30 hours, will go back for the two DLC’s once my backlog clears up a bit.
3. Titanfall 2 :- Thanks to gamepass, I played this around the game was trending on Twitter, 60fps helped so much because I tend to get motion sickness with first person shooters. This one was short, took me around 10 hours to finish. Another fun experience.
4. Plague tale of innocence :- Another one thanks to Gamepass and positive reviews online. Kinda sucks that I finished just before it got the next gen update but a really fun experience nevertheless.
5. Nier Automata :- Gamepass again, I’ve only done ending A but that was enough for me, not in the right frame of mind for some of the other endings. Still enjoyed it, visuals were great, game ran flawlessly and the music was very catchy, really liked the characters and the boss fights.

38. Doki Doki Literature Club
I'd been kind of wanting to revisit it anyway and the Switch version wound up being a good excuse to do so. Not a very long playthrough or anything, though I'm pretty sure it's my first time seeing the 100% ending. Probably get to the new side stories later, pretty curious about how those turned out.

39. River City Girls
I had fiddled with it here and there since getting my Series S a couple of months ago, but had been struggling to really develop a taste for it. Yesterday though I got back to it and ended up going in heavy and just now wrapped it up (though I do have some statues to double back to collect). Lot of fun, can certainly see myself playing more of it, maybe looking into the sequel. Though even knowing about the ending it is incredibly abrupt.

How does it work on the switch, If I remember rightly from the pc version {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}There is a part of the game where you kinda need to go into the files and delete parts of it, and Im sure you cant do that on switch? I saw it and was tempted to have a peek, but the idea of paying for a game that was free annoys me
