I had no beef with the Goodner reveal since I assumed they were all Skrulls anyways...something that was dealt with in a different way in the final episode. That being said...I’m not quite sure I’m onboard with Schaeffer finding it hilarious that she made it seem like a bigger reveal than it really was and are shocked that fans think it’ll be someone important from Marvel lore and not...oh this is just some random character I named after a buddy of mine. Even Teyonah Parris was out there hyping up the reveal.

Look, I can buy the idea that they just wanted to tell a relatively simple story about grief and not have it have giant universe-wide ramifications and didn't expect speculation to get out of control like it did. They really should have known better with some of this stuff, but I can accept they just read the room wrong. But now they're saying they intentionally teased big things and didn't deliver because they thought that would be a brilliant plot twist? That's like something I can see Vince Russo saying. It's just bad writing. Screwing with your fandoms expectations like that is the quickest way to alienating them.
It feels like they're at the point where either Feige has to have a long conversation with Jac Schaeffer about this, or consider not using her anymore.

For all intents and purposes, they're supplementary viewing that just so happen to be canon IMO. The real meaty reveals will likely still only be reserved for the movie releases themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear about the mutants themselves until at least the Eternals movie coming out in the fall. I know we've got Black Widow and Shang-Chi in between now and then, but those movies feel more like establishing stories in the past rather than moving things forward post-Endgame.

Hell, I knew it wasn’t Reed...but I assumed it was probably Blue Marvel. There’s fans raising their own expectations and then there’s actors and directors feeding the fire themselves...talking about how they can’t wait for the engineer reveal. Just seems unnecessary since all they had to do was hype up Monica had some friends in SWORD and there would be no fuss. The scene would have still went off just fine since the payoff was Monica gaining her powers anyways.

Even Teyonah Parris was out there hyping up the reveal. To be fair, in the actual video her response when asked about the engineer her tone was less hype and more of a cautious trying not to confirm or deny anything. The Feige playbook is to keep fans guessing but let things play out on screen, after all. The catch with that is any fan theories created while picking apart the movies rarely need to be addressed when actors are doing the press tours, because by the time the first theories hit the internet the press tours are either over or wrapping up. With WandaVision the cast and crew were doing press the whole time. It's worth noting that Falcon and the Winter Soldier's showrunner has gotten ahead of the hype train and said that while there's easter eggs there's not going to be a WandaVision-type situation.

We are up to 69 pages.
Now I am on the same wavelength as the writers of the finale.

I’ll admit to getting caught up in speculation and being a bit disappointed with some aspects of the show. That being said, I don’t hold it against WV or the creative team. It’s a good show that executed a story about grief well and furthered the evolution of two Avengers. One nitpick with Schaeffer‘s comments though: {Spoiler}{SPOILER}The vehicle her engineer friend supplied immediately failed. Monica ended up ditching it and just going in herself. So if it was meant to be a shoutout to a friend, it’s not a very good one. Regardless of fan theories or gender, the reveal amounted to nothing. Goodner is a nice friend and all, but she wasn’t prepared for the task asked of her.

Feige revealed that the original plan was for Strange to be behind the commercials and that they were meant as messages to Wanda. They didn’t want him to overshadow Wanda in the finale though so they cut his planned appearance.

I’m still bummed we didn’t get Strange or any “holy shit” kind of appearance (besides BONER) but that would have been a lousy way to squeeze him in. Also since this got bumped, good excuse to post this:

Awards don't mean shit to me, but I appreciate that snobby critics and judges are acknowledging this stuff as being a legit form of entertainment.
