I will give credit to Orton for his quick thinking. He knew that they were about to go to a pretape where he wasn't bleeding and he was desperately trying to wipe it off and stop the bleeding to try to maintain some sense of continuity. He failed, but at least he tried.

They're getting a bit weird now that they're running past the source material of the manga, but WWE: Brotherhood is gonna be so good. Which poor Main Event-only jobber is going to actually volunteer to get their DNA mingled with a dog to be a part of this angle?

I think the original iPhone launched last time he was on TV.

This thread was lots of laughs up until this post and now I'm going to find where you live, and I'm going to have so much f***ing Minions merch and gorilla poop mailed to your home.

I don't think there's a less than zero chance of it happening, for two reasons. 1) Like you said, they have saved a shit load of money by running out of one building and not being on the road, while simultaneously making record profits. 2) Vince finally has what he wants- complete control over the onscreen product. The only thing standing in the way of that was the response of the live crowd, and he doesn't have to worry about that anymore. I say less than zero because the one thing WWE’s talked a lot about during the pandemic in various forms (promos, shareholders meetings etc) is being able to get crowds back because they are still a company that relies on that sort of thing to separate them from other forms of entertainment. Like, yeah, crowds at movies are great but they’re not recorded and broadcasted at the same time because that’d technically be illegal, for example. Also, they wouldn’t have crowd shots to record and cut to every 5 seconds which I think is what Kevin Dunn needs to fuel himself or something. But in my scenario, it wouldn’t entirely rule out doing WrestleMania or the Saudi deal because those would be where you spend the money to use a venue for a few days (or one with Saudi Arabia) and have crowds before going back to what you have. Where would they do the shows from? If they have to rent out an arena anyway like they’re doing now then there is still quite an expense without any revenue especially when rents go up when crowds are allowed.

I mean, it’s an expense but compared to travelling and setting stuff up, taking it down and putting it back again somewhere else? Not that much of an expense. Like, we’re probably never going to get many house shows again even with crowds for that very reason. And let’s be realistic, unless something dramatic changes, crowds aren’t back in America in 2021. I’d argue crowds might not be back in the first part of 2022 so WWE can look around Florida I guess and see if they could have a long term deal or have a special venue constructed. I’m nowhere near an expert on this stuff but that’s just me spitballing.

They’d save some not having to pay the travel and setup crew but I imagine they’re getting a sweetheart deal on rent right now while most things aren’t running. There’s also the fact that most arenas probably aren’t going to want the building occupied for such a long period, or they won’t be able to have that because they have sports teams that play there. Maybe they could construct their own thing but I imagine that would be quite expensive. Ultimately, I think it makes more sense to continue running live shows, even if at a lesser rate than prior. The whole fan experience of attending a show is part of the way to cultivate fans in different areas of the country and to create new fans. Even if you take a slight loss because of house shows.

The whole fan experience of attending a show is part of the way to cultivate fans in different areas of the country and to create new fans. Even if you take a slight loss because of house shows. I mean, on the house show front, those were going to die sooner rather than later because of the low attendances over the years so the pandemic was the “excuse” needed to do that. Whether they backtrack, I don’t know, but that was the case for financials for years especially since it wasn’t working on the “create new fans” front. On the stadium building front, I could really see a scenario where WWE starts states bidding for a permanent home and Florida foots the bill for a stadium to make that happen and it’s how that Hall of Fame ends up being built near the PC. It’s not a likely scenario but I can see it being something WWE tries to do by saying it’ll be an “important part of tourism when Florida is up an running again” or “we’ll provide loads of jobs” some nonsense like that.
