In case you're wondering where all the records for the Rumbles before 2010 are: officialfan.proboards.com/thread/606809/royal-rumble-records-1988-20092010: Last ECW Title match on PPV: Christian VS Ezekial Jackson. On February 16, little more than two weeks after the PPV, ECW would be no more, being dissolved and replaced with the first game show version of NXT, making the 2010 Rumble PPV the last Rumble PPV of the first Brand Extension to have the WWE, World Heavyweight, and ECW Titles defended at a Rumble PPV. Also, Last Rumble match of the first Brand Extension to feature ECW wrestlers. Only 3 ECW wrestlers were in the 2010 Rumble match: Zach Ryder, Shelton Benjamin, and Yoshi Tatsu. 1st United States Title match at a Rumble PPV: The Miz VS Montel Vontavious Porter. Despite the title becoming WWE property since their purchase of WCW in 2001, there wouldn’t be a single U.S. Title match at a Rumble PPV until 2010. Of course, the WCW purchase happened months after the 2001 Rumble PPV and was deactivated for the 2002 and 2003 PPVs. But, from 2004 to 2009, the United States Champion never defended his title at the event, usually competing in the Rumble match. Shortest match at Rumble PPV: Michelle McCool VS Mickie James for the Women’s Title, 20 seconds. Also, the last time the old Women's Title changed hands at a Big 4 PPV. Mickie won the title off of Michelle. The title was unified later in the year at Night Of Champions when Layla unified it with the WWE Divas Title by beating Melina. The Undertaker’s last successful World Title defense on PPV. The Undertaker successfully defended his World Heavyweight Title against Rey Mysterio, to date the last time he has retained a World Title on WWE PPV. Only Rumble match for Evan Bourne. 2nd Woman to compete in a Men’s Rumble match: Beth Phoenix. Also, 2nd Woman to get an elimination in a Men’s Rumble match, as she managed to take out The Great Khali by kissing him and pulling him over the ropes. 1st Man to compete in 12 consecutive Rumble matches: Kane. Also, this was his 14th Rumble match overall (again, before he was Kane, Glenn Jacobs competed in the 1996 Rumble match at Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. and in the 1997 Rumble match at “Fake” Diesel). Shortest time with at least 1 elimination: MVP, 7 seconds with 2 eliminations. When he came out at Number 14, he was attacked by The Miz, who he faced earlier in the night, which seemingly took him out of the match. However, when The Miz came out a few minutes later at Number 16, MVP came out, officially entered the match, and eliminated The Miz and himself in just 7 seconds. 4th Man to draw the same number 3 times: Shawn Michaels. He got 18 in the 1994, 1996, and 2010 Rumble matches. Also, 3rd man to reach 5 Final Fours: Michaels had also been in the Final Four in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 2007. 2010 would be his 5th and final as it was his last Rumble match to date. 1st Man to compete in a Rumble match in 4 different decades: Shawn Michaels. Michaels made his Rumble debut in the 1989 match. In the 1990s, he competed in the 1990, 1992, 1994, 1995, and 1996 Rumble matches. In the 2000s, he was in the 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 Rumble matches. 2010 would be his last to date. 5th Man to reach 4 Final Fours: Batista; 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010. Smallest field in a Rumble match after Number 30 entered the ring: 4. When Batista came in at Number 30, that brought the total number of men in the ring to just 4. This broke a 20-year record, as the previous holder was the 1990 Rumble match, which had just 5 men left after Mr. Perfect came in at Number 30. Shortest time for a Rumble winner: Edge, 7:37. That’s all it took for Edge to win the 2010 Rumble match. 5th Double Royal (King Of The Ring and Royal Rumble winner): Edge. 6th Rumble Runner-Up to also get a World Title match at WrestleMania: John Cena. Much like the year before, Cena won an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Title at Elimination Chamber 2010. However, he had to immediately face Batista for the title under Vince McMahon’s orders. Batista won, and Cena got his rematch at WrestleMania XXVI. Also, his match was higher on the card than Edge’s World Heavyweight Title match with Chris Jericho. 2nd Shortest 30-man Rumble match: 49:24. Also, the 3rd Shortest Rumble match overall. And, the only Rumble match within the 40-minute range. The 1988 and 1995 Rumble matches failed to reach 40 minutes, while every other Rumble match has gone over 50.

The flow of this rumble was very bizarre. When it was somewhat packed before Shawn Michaels entered it felt like everyone kept staying to the same side of the ring. Once it was Michaels and Cena it felt odd having Shelton, Yoshi Tatsu and Chris Masters enter even though there were a lot of quick eliminations. Then Truth eliminating Mark Henry and Big Show was weird. I dunno, really don’t like this Rumble.

I don't like the 2010 Rumble very much. It's not got many moments with a lot of people in the ring and I felt like everyone in it was either a star or a scrub, with no middle ground.

2011: Last Rumble PPV of the first Brand Extension. Later in the year, the Brand Extension would be quietly dissolved, and WWE’s superstars were no longer separated between RAW and SmackDown! Though, superstars were already showing up on shows they weren’t a part of anyway. It just wasn’t made official until after SummerSlam of that year.
Only Rumble match for Tyler Reks and Mason Ryan.
Only 40-man Rumble match.
Hornswoggle’s last WWE PPV match (main card). He would get two more PPV matches against El Torito in 2014, but those were preshow matches. His appearance in the 2011 Rumble match would be the last time he wrestled on a PPV’s main card before his release in 2014.
Kevin Nash’s 1st WWE match since 2003. Also, his 1st appearance as Diesel since 1996. By entering the Rumble match as his mid-1990s WWE gimmick, it marked the first time he had gone by Big Daddy Cool since his first WWE departure in May 1996.
2nd of just 2 Rumble competitors to be eliminated before they were supposed to: Alex Riley. Riley was shoved over to the apron by John Cena and Kofi Kingston and was supposed to hold onto the ropes, get back into the ring, and keep going until Cena's elimination. Unfortunately, Riley slipped and fell out of the ring. Nobody noticed this at all except for Kofi and Cena, who seemed really distressed and nervous because Riley was instrumental in how Cena was planned to be eliminated later on. A new spot was created with Riley returning to distract Cena so Miz could toss him out later on. This botch has been credited for killing Riley's push.
Most consecutive Rumble matches: Kane, 13. Also, this was his 15th overall, the 1st man to reach that number of Rumble matches.
2nd of just 2 times someone has been prematurely declared as a Rumble winner. Alberto Del Rio was declared the winner despite Santino Marella still being in the match. However, Del Rio managed to throw out Marella.
Shortest campaign as a Royal Rumble winner (the time to win the Rumble added to the time of his title match at WrestleMania): Alberto Del Rio, 20:09. Del Rio lasted only 9:33 to win the 2011 Rumble, and his World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania XXVII with Edge was only 11:09. Other Rumble campaigns that lasted less than 30 minutes were Yokozuna in 1993 (23:08, doesn’t include the impromptu match Hulk Hogan), The Undertaker in 2007 (29:06), Edge in 2010 (23:25), and Sheamus in 2012 (22:39).
1st Rumble match since 2005 where the Runner-Up didn’t go on to also wrestle in a World Title match at WrestleMania. After 6 straight years where the Runner-Up also got a WrestleMania World Title match, Santino Marella would fail to get one at WrestleMania XXVII.
Longest Men’s Rumble match (main PPV): 1:09:49. While not the longest Rumble match to have aired on PPV, this is the longest one at the main Rumble PPV. Funny enough, it only beat the previous record, the 2002 Rumble match, by 27 seconds.
5th Longest match in WWE history: the 2011 Rumble match. Yes, the only 40-man Rumble match is the 5th longest match WWE has ever put on. It comes below the 2019 Women’s Rumble match (1:12:00), the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018 (1:17:20), a WWE Title match between Bruno Sammartino and Waldo Von Erich on August 22, 1964 (1:21:00), and the Gauntlet Match from RAW on February 19, 2018 (2:26:55).

I think it was just because the 2009 Rumble had a load of guys who lasted for a long time (Orton, HHH, Mysterio, Finlay, Knox, Jericho, Taker, Punk, Rhodes & Dibiase) and WWE wanted to do the opposite for the 2010 Rumble. That’s what I assume anyway. And then they go and do the 40 man Rumble a year later!

2012: 1st WWE PPV to feature 2 former ROH World Champions defending 2 WWE World Titles. Daniel Bryan (who was ROH Champion as Bryan Danielson) defended his World Heavyweight Title in the previously mentioned Steel Cage Match, while CM Punk defended his WWE Title against Dolph Ziggler.
Only Steel Cage Match at a Rumble PPV: Daniel Bryan VS Mark Henry VS The Big Show for the World Heavyweight Title. Also, the Rumble is the last of the Big 4 to have a Steel Cage Match. WrestleMania was first as Hulk Hogan defended his WWE Title against King Kong Bundy in a cage at the 2nd WrestleMania in 1986, followed by SummerSlam in 1990 with another WWE Title match as The Ultimate Warrior defended his title against “Ravishing” Rick Rude, and Survivor Series in 2001 with The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz fighting to unify the WWE World and WCW Tag Team Titles.
Most Rumble matches before wrestling in a non-Rumble match: Glenn Jacobs, 15. After 15 Rumble matches, 13 of them in a row, the man also known as Kane finally wrestled in a non-Rumble match at a Rumble PPV, taking on John Cena at the 2012 Rumble PPV. It was the 1st time in 14 years that Kane wasn’t in a Rumble match (he didn’t take part in the 1998 Rumble match).
Only Rumble match for Primo, Epico, Ricardo Rodriguez, Michael Cole, and Kharma.
Mick Foley’s last wrestling match. There were plans for Foley to wrestle at the 2012 SummerSlam against a debuting Dean Ambrose. But, Foley wasn’t medically cleared to wrestle. Instead, he chose to retire from wrestling, which made his appearance in the 2012 Rumble match as his last match ever.
Only Rumble match where all the announcers competed in the match. Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and Booker T called the 2012 Rumble match; and all 3 competed in the match. This also made Lawler the only man to have called 2 Rumble matches that he also competed in.
2nd man over 60 to compete in a Rumble match: Jerry Lawler. At 62, Lawler joined “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka as the only 2 men over 60 to compete in a Rumble match.
2nd Man to compete in a Rumble match in 4 different decades: “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. Amazingly, the 1st Rumble winner has competed in Rumble matches in the 1980s (1988), 1990s (1991 & 1992), 2000s (2009), and 2010s (2012).
3rd Woman to compete in a Men’s Rumble match: Kharma. Also, the 3rd woman to get an elimination in a Men’s Rumble match. Kharma eliminated Hunico from the match.
Kharma’s only WWE match. Shortly after her debut in 2011, Kharma had to take maternity leave. Sadly, she had a miscarriage and ended up returning to WWE 4 weeks later, showing up in the 2012 Rumble match. However, depression caused by the miscarriage brought a quick end to her WWE run as she asked for her release later in 2012.
4th Man to reach 5 Final Fours: Randy Orton; 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2012.
6th Double Royal (King Of The Ring and Royal Rumble winner): Sheamus. He’s also the only Double Royal to have won a post-PPV King Of The Ring tournament. The other 5 (Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and Edge) all became King Of The Ring during the PPV years (1993-2002). Sheamus won the King Of The Ring in 2010.
Shortest successful campaign as a Royal Rumble winner (the time to win the Rumble added to the time of his title match at WrestleMania): Sheamus, 22:39. Thanks to him winning the World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania XXVIII in only 18 seconds, Sheamus has the shortest successful Rumble campaign. While it’s only the 2nd shortest Rumble campaign behind Alberto Del Rio (20:09), Sheamus did win the World Heavyweight Title. So, he has the shortest successful campaign.
7th Rumble Runner-Up to also get a World Title match at WrestleMania: Chris Jericho. Y2J was the 7th Runner-Up in 8 straight years to go on and also wrestle in a World Title match at WrestleMania. And, his match was higher on the card than Sheamus’s World Heavyweight Title match with Daniel Bryan.

It's also fun for Miz being on commentary telling the others to look at how great Riley is doing with him already being gone.
I'd bet that there have been plenty more people to be eliminated earlier than planned but nobody finds out because they're not scheduled to play a part in the match finish. At most, they'd probably get a, "I don't think they meant to do that" from viewers.

2013: Last World Heavyweight Title match at a Rumble PPV: Alberto Del Rio VS The Big Show in a Last Man Standing match. Later in the year, the World Heavyweight Title was unified with the WWE Title at TLC 2013. The next Rumble PPV with 2 World Title matches would be the 2017 Rumble, the 1st with the Universal Title.
Kane’s Only Time pulling Double Duty at a Royal Rumble PPV: Kane teamed up with Daniel Bryan to defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow) before competing in the Rumble match with his partner and opponents. This would be the only time he pulled Double Duty at the Rumble.
Only Rumble match for Brodus Clay.
Only man to be the 1st elimination twice: Santino Marella. After being the 1st man out in 2008, Santino would come in 30th place again in 2013. To date, he’s the only man to have achieved this dubious honor.
Only Men’s Money In The Bank briefcase holder to compete in a Rumble match while still holding the briefcase: Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler had yet to cash in his MITB briefcase when he competed in the 2013 Rumble match. The next time a MITB winner still holding their briefcase in a Rumble match would be Carmella in 2018.
Only man to last less than 30 seconds in 3 different Rumble matches with 3 different gimmicks: Charles Wright. In 1993, he lasted just 28 seconds as Papa Shango. In 2001, he lasted 13 seconds as The Goodfather. In 2013, he lasted just 5 seconds as The Godfather.
1st Rumble competitor younger than the Royal Rumble: Bo Dallas. Born on May 25, 1990, Dallas is 2 years younger than the Rumble, and the 1st man born in the 1990s to compete in a Rumble match. Also, he was the 1st NXT competitor (by which, I mean the development show and not the reality show competition that NXT began as) to compete in a Rumble match. Dallas won a tournament on NXT to earn a spot in the Rumble match. He also eliminated Wade Barrett in the match, making him the 1st NXT competitor to score an elimination.
Most Rumble matches with no eliminations: Matt Bloom. Bloom has been in 6 Rumble matches as Prince Albert (2000), Albert (2001 and 2002), A-Train (2003 and 2004), and Tensai (2013); and in all 6 of those Rumble matches, he didn’t score a single elimination. Also, he joined Charles Wright and Mick Foley in having appeared in the Rumble match under 4 different names.
1st man to compete in 16 Rumble matches: Kane. After not competing in the 2012 Rumble match, Kane would be back in the match for his 14th Rumble as that gimmick and 16th overall (remember, his 1st 2 Rumble matches were as Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. and “Fake” Diesel).
1st 2-time Rumble winner in 15 years: John Cena. Cena won his 2nd Rumble match in 2013 after having won the 2008 Rumble match. He was the 1st multiple Rumble winner since Stone Cold Steve Austin. He’s also the 1st 2-time winner whose Rumble wins weren’t back to back. Before him, the 3 men who had 2 Rumble wins won them back to back: Hulk Hogan in 1990 and 1991, Shawn Michaels in 1995 and 1996, and Stone Cold in 1997 and 1998, plus 2001.
6th man to reach 4 Final Fours: John Cena; 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2013.
1st WWE Title reign to last over 400 days since 1987: CM Punk, 434 days. Punk’s WWE Title reign was so long that he was still holding the WWE Title that he defended at the previous year’s Rumble PPV. Also, 1st WWE Title reign to last for one calendar year (January 1-December 31) since 1987. Punk’s 434 day reign began on November 20, 2011 and ended at the 2013 Rumble on January 27, 2013. In between was the entire year of 2012, and CM Punk was the only WWE Champion for that year, a 1st in 25 years. He was the 5th, and to date last, man to have pulled off this feat. The others were Bruno Sammartino (the only WWE Champ for 1964-1970 AND 1974-1976), Pedro Morales (the only WWE Champ for 1972), Bob Backlund (the only WWE Champ for 1980-1982; WWE officially recognizes him as the only WWE Champ for 1979, but he lost a title match to Antonio Inoki that WWE doesn’t recognize), and Hulk Hogan (the only WWE Champ for 1985-1987).
2nd man to win the WWE Title in 3 different decades: The Rock. The Rock’s 1st WWE Title win was back in 1998, and he won it multiple times in 1999. In the 2000s, The Rock had multiple wins in 2000, 1 reign in 2001, and 1 reign in 2002. His win in 2013 would give him his 3rd decade to have held the WWE Title in. The other man to have won the WWE Title in 3 different decades was Hulk Hogan, who was WWE Champion in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Triple H would later join them in 2016.
Last Rumble PPV to not end with the Rumble match to date.

2014: 1st tag team title win for The New Age Outlaws in 14 years. On the preshow, the Outlaws won the WWE Tag Team Titles over Cody Rhodes & Goldust. It was their 6th overall tag team title reign (they had 5 with the old WWE World Tag Team Titles) and the 1st time they had held tag team gold in WWE since they lost the World Tag Team Titles to the Dudley Boyz at No Way Out 2000. This was also the longest gap between 2 tag team title reigns in WWE history. Also, this win gave Billy Gunn his 11th tag team title reign, making him 1 of just 3 to have over 10 tag team title reigns in WWE. The other 2 are Edge at 14 and Kane also at 11.
1st PPV with the OVW 4 (Brock Lesnar, Batista, John Cena, and Randy Orton) since WrestleMania XX.
9th PPV singles match between Randy Orton and John Cena. The two had faced off against one another at SummerSlam 2007, Unforgiven 2007, No Way Out 2008, SummerSlam 2009, Breaking Point 2009, Hell In A Cell 2009, Bragging Rights 2009, and TLC 2013 before wrestling again at the 2014 Rumble PPV. They would rack up a 10th one at Hell In A Cell 2014. If you add in triple threat matches (WrestleMania 24, Night Of Champions 2009), fatal four ways (Backlash 2008, Fatal 4-Way 2010, Battleground 2014), five ways (Vengeance 2007), six pack challenges (Night of Champions 2010), other multi-man matches (Elimination Chamber 2014, Money In The Bank 2014), and even Rumble matches where the two would cross paths (2011, 2013, 2018), then that makes 22 PPV matches with John Cena fighting Randy Orton.
Only Rumble match for El Torito.
CM Punk’s last WWE match: the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Punk entered at Number 1 and lasted 49:12. He would famously walk out on the company the next night, unhappy with his role in the company. He was also very sick, having not only suffered a concussion from Kofi Kingston during the match but also had a staph infection since the fall of 2013. This would be his last WWE match, though Punk does currently work on WWE Backstage for FOX Sports.
1st man to compete in 17 Rumble matches: Glenn Jacobs. The man known as Kane just keeps racking up Rumble matches, now going to 17 overall, 15 as Kane.
5th announcer to compete in the Rumble match he also called: John Bradshaw Layfield. JBL joined Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon, Michael Cole, and Booker T as the only men to call and compete in the same Rumble match. Also, this was his only Rumble match as JBL. His last Rumble match had been in 2004 as Bradshaw. Later that year, he’d become JBL. JBL would appear at 6 more Rumble PPVs before competing in the 2014 Rumble match. At the 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009 Rumble PPVs, he competed in the undercard. At the 2007 and 2013 Rumble PPVs, he’d be on commentary but not competed.
New Record for Most Eliminations in 1 Rumble match (main PPV): Roman Reigns, 12. Reigns beat's Kane's 2001 record of 11. Reigns's record was broken twice: first by Braun Strowman with 13 in 2018, which was at the Greatest Royal Rumble and was’t a part of the main PPV and didn't technically count; then by Brock Lesnar with 13 in 2020 at the main PPV, giving him the official record.
5th Man to draw the same number 3 times: Batista has been Number 28 for the 2003, 2005, and 2014 Rumble matches. Also, Only Rumble winner who has drawn the same number twice. Batista won the 2005 and 2014 Rumble matches from 28, the only time someone has won from the same number in different Rumble matches.
5th man to reach 5 Final Fours: Batista; 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2014.
2nd of 2 Rumble winners to leave WWE within the same year they won the Rumble match: Batista. The Animal joined Big John Studd in winning the Rumble match and then leaving within the calendar year, leaving in June 2014.

Most Eliminations in 1 Rumble match (main PPV): Roman Reigns, 12. While his record was broken by Braun Strowman with 13 in 2018, that was at the Greatest Royal Rumble, which was’t a part of the main PPV. Didn't Lesnar also score 13 last year?

6th man to reach 4 Final Fours: Batista; 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2014.
Batista was also final 4 in 2010. That would make 5 final fours.

2015: Only Rumble PPV with an all multi-man match card. Along with the Royal Rumble, there were 4 tag team matches (Cesaro & Tyson Kidd VS The New Day on the preshow, The Ascension VS The New Age Outlaws, The Usos VS The Miz & Damien Mizdow for the WWE Tag Team Titles, and The Bella Twins VS Paige & Natalya) and Triple Threat match (Brock Lesnar VS John Cena VS Seth Rollins). It was the 1st Big 4 PPV with no singles matches since Survivor Series 1990.
Only pinfall win of Brock Lesnar’s 4th WWE Title reign. Of course, Lesnar only made three defenses of the belt (Night of Champions 2014, this Rumble PPV, and WrestleMania 31) due to his lighter schedule. Lesnar actually lost the other 2 matches: by disqualification to John Cena at Night Of Champions when Seth Rollins attacked Cena during the match and then at WrestleMania 31 when Rollins cashed in his MITB contract to enter the match and pin Roman Reigns to become the new WWE Champion.
Only Rumble match for Bubba Ray Dudley, The Boogeyman, and Adam Rose.
Only match at a Rumble PPV for Paige.
6th Rumble match where Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, and The Miz repeated at Number 1. In 2010, Ziggler was Number 1. In 2011, it was Punk. And, 2012 saw The Miz enter at Number 1. Then, it repeated: Ziggler Number 1 in 2013, Punk in 2014, and The Miz in 2015.
1st Man to compete in 18 Rumble matches: Glenn Jacobs, with 16 Rumble matches as Kane.
1st Man to reach 40 Eliminations in his Rumble career: Kane, 43.
1st Man to reach 6 Final Fours: Kane. His previous Final Fours were in 1997 (as “Fake” Diesel), 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2008.
7th man to reach 4 Final Fours: The Big Show; 2000, 2004, 2012, and 2015.
1st Rumble match to be replayed on RAW the next night. Because of the January 2015 Nor'easter, the RAW after the Rumble was cancelled and a special RAW was held at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT. During that broadcast, WWE replayed the WWE Title Match and the Royal Rumble match.

During that broadcast, WWE replayed the WWE Title Match and the Royal Rumble match. Should’ve just had Roman Reigns do a few laps around the arena. All his residual heat from the Rumble would’ve melted the snow in no time.
