Known by wrestling fans for the "shoot fight" with Taz in ECW. (And the prematch tales involving Missy Hyatt)

The shoot fight was a pretty school spectacle and really stands out when revisiting ECW '96.

It's sad Varelans will always be known for that fight with Tazz and breaking down the lockers after the match was over when Missy Hyatt reneged on her promise.
I'll always remember The Polar Bear's fight with Kimo in Ultimate Ultimate 2. Varelans took Kimo down and pounded him unmerciful. Kimo flipped him over and punched Varelans repeatedly until referee Joe McCarthy called a halt to the fight. Varelans was an underdog but really fought his heart out.

That's sad to be so desperate for sex that you actually get angry and violent when you don't get it. I mean, I would be mad if I thought I was gonna bang a chick and didn't happen, but then I would quickly remember that I can just masturbate instead of breaking shit.

You really don't understand wrestling culture and the art of banging a ring rat. Plus we're talking about early 90's Missy.

Plus we're talking about early 90's Missy. Early 90's Missy was in WCW, not ECW. The fight between Taz and Varelans is Hardcore Heaven '96. You don't know your wrestling history and dates too well. Plus, this thread is about the tragic death of a UFC warrior, not about the prettiness of Missy.

I was replying to a comment made about Missy and the story about her an Paul. yet you chose to blame me for going off topic instead yourself for mentioning her to begin with. What else is Paul remembered for anyway.

The Polar Bear was a veteran during the early days of the UFC, IFC when it was No Holds Barred. Paul is remembered for his fight with Marco Ruas in UFC VII and his decision win over Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Joe Moreira in UFC VIII. His win over Moreira was an upset, because BJJ was untouchable and Moreira was groomed as this Next Big Prizefighter but Varelans showed poise to get a hard-fought decision win.

I meant in wrestling and UFC wasn't as popular as it is now. So by mainstream and wrestling standards this is all he is known for.

UFC in the early 1990's of Shamrock, Royce Gracie, and Dan Severn was popular. Pay-per-views and VHS Rentals was making the company a lot of money. It wasn't until the late 90's when Senator John McCain called it "human cockfighting" and tried to ban it did the UFC go to Alabama and Casper, Wyoming which had little government regulations. Varelans isn't solely known for the Missy Hyatt incident. It is the wrestling rumor press which has blown it out of proportion.

Aw man, RIP Polar Bear. I also remember Ruas beating him, and a big part of that win being stomps to Varelans' feet.

Can we not turn a RIP thread into a petty argument about when Missy Hyatt was hottest and ratbanging?
