It's been the same stories and tropes for the last 18 years are so. 50/50 booking, a champion loses a non-title match to set up a PPV match, poop jokes by the top face, cuckholding, etc etc
I mean, we're all bored of it, but I at least hope he's having fun watching the same basic story OVER AND OVER again
I mean this genuinely btw

Some of it yes. Some of if he does just because he’s insane.
When Jericho dressed as Santa and Big Show were attacked by little people, Vince said “Ugh! My father is rolling over in his grave”. Jericho said “You’re the one booking this shit!”

Honestly? I think yes and no.
I think there's definitely some amount of his actual sensibilities in there. The terrible sense of humor, in particular, is likely just his.
But...I also think he's taken second-guessing his own tastes to a distressing level.
Vince prides himself on being the guy who makes wrestling for people who don't like wrestling. It's all over his branding, from "sports entertainment" to "superstars" to the weird commentary edicts. But he himself seems to like wrestling just fine - every now and then we'll see a rumor or story that he actually booked something heavy in workrate, or he'll be really obviously overjoyed to be watching a good match when he's out there live. His soft spot for Shawn Michaels could possibly be because Michaels is the kind of wrestler that he actually wants to watch.
But then, he'll spend years convinced that workrate doesn't matter, or that the hardcore fans are always wrong in every circumstance. He's always trying to be "smarter" than the people who want a good wrestling show, because he wants to reach the people who wouldn't normally watch wrestling...even though he himself barely knows anything outside of wrestling.
So...in short...I suspect that while he does indulge himself often, he also second-guesses himself and then doubles down - and the push and pull of these things are the root cause of most of WWE's problems.

Yes, but I think he would agree it's a slog to get through. IIRC, he has said that two hours is the ideal length for a wrestling show but USA wants three.

I feel he appreciated it more during the "Attitude" era, where he was allowed a lot of creative freedom, and became a main focal point in the product. Once he embraced who he actually was to get his talent over, you could tell he was loving every moment. Plus, the billions of dollars after the horrible mid-90's probably helped too.

I remember in the Austin podcast he as like "we had a very huge and exciting end to Raw tonight" and it was just the fifth repeat of a Big Show/Authority segment pretty much shot for shot and I think about that a lot when I think about WWE actually trying to put on a good/entertaining show.

Yes and no
At this point Vince does what he wants on a whim and just to keep the empire alive. Some of it he will have a critical hand in and it will show like the Jinder push while others like Fiend and Roman current characters are just letting them do what they want while he kills everything else

Even if Vince wasn't entertained, it's not like he'd admit it to everyone. He'd just blame everyone else for it not working.

To be fair to Vince, 205 Live was the best it's ever been when he was running it. Who f***ing knows.

I’m sure he’s enjoying the Flair Lacey Evans storyline at least.

I don't think he has a clue.
He's one of the busiest men on Earth. They produce a thousand hours of TV a week and he's backstage calling most of it from Gorilla.
How many episodes of Raw do you think he's even seen in total? Because I doubt it's many.

He most likely does.
Freddie Prinze Jr said in an interview he was laughing at a comedy show on the TV in Vince’s plane and Vince asked why he was watching that when he could be watching Santino.

I don't think so. I think he can temporarily convince himself that he does, but his heart isn't in it, and when the pretense breaks down he gets antsy and tries to rewrite things on the fly without knowing what he really wants.

I fully believe there's been a lot of stupid things on WWE TV that Vince only booked just to see if anybody had to balls to try and stop him.
Vince always felt like the sort of dude that would like to "test" shit like that all the time.

I mean Santino was hilarious True but if given the choice between the Office and Santino, I’m picking the Office every time.
