{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} I mean at one point he apparently calls Chris a Boulder punching asshole, so I give him points for the shit talk. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Wasn't that Heiseinberg? Not sure, I haven’t gotten to that part yet.

The game def ended up being good. I liked it as a blend of RE7 and RE4 {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} I'm going to murder that boulder punching asshole got it for me lmao
Some good legit horror in the game
Chris is giving up solid snake vibes
Ethan being dead all along and kept alive by the mold is a nice twist to the crazy shit he went through. Can't help but figure that Chris and them would have done test on him and figured that out tho. Doesn't make much sense that only Mia would have known
They did everything possible to not show his face
Sooooo, can we get teen Rose game with powers? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}It especially doesn't really make sense because what happened to Eveline being able to insta-kill people infected with the mold? Why didn't she just do that on Ethan? {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Especially since he is the reason she lost her "family" and he killed her
Ethan getting killed is logical. Even being kept alive by the mold is still a good twist and creates a dynamic of him choosing to sacrifice himself for his family
BUT only thing I can guess is they say some BS about her wanting Mia and Ethan to live on as her new family

I think the RE storyline is so nonsensical as this point that you could justify any plot development.

I’m like 4 minutes in and I don’t want to play anymore. Lol

I really don’t know how to feel after the first 45 minutes. I think I’m kind of hating it?

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}So I'm in Heisenberg's factory 1: F*** the drill enemies 2: Can I just have one Resident Evil game, that isn't a remake, to NOT include a god damn chainsaw-like enemy in it, you might as well replace the airplane part for 3 rotating chainsaws. 3: I'm like over halfway through this game, I'm playing as Chris, does this game still need to tell me how to reload?

It does seem like a rather odd choice to me that (BIG spoilers here)... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}They decided to basically render 7 completely moot by having Ethan dead the whole time anyway. Not like he's some deep and beloved character anyway but it does kind of turn 7 into a pretty useless story that ultimately it didn't really matter because you were doomed from the outset.
Then there's the decision to effectively tie every main villain in the franchise except Saddler back to Mother Miranda. That also seems kind of weird; if anything it makes the world feel a lot smaller and less scary if there's one central evil that everything goes back to. I mean, it's Resident Evil so who really cares about the plot anyway but those are some strange directions to take this. I'm still processing the story, but I'd disagree that these two plot points are negative. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}
Ethan being "dead" doesn't really make the story pointless because he still saved Mia, spent three more years with her and fathered a child that he also saved. I'd say it makes his story one of sacrifice rather than meaninglessness.
As for Miranda, from what I've read, Spencer just met her in the past and was inspired by her work to do his own research with the Progenitor virus. Which feels more like a small wrinkle added to the overall lore than something that connects the whole series to a single point.

Well {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} My biggest peeve with the POV era is it still really doesn't feel connected to the RE universe as a whole
It isn't good or bad but assuming they do a 3rd game with this, I would like to see a wider narrative which they hinted at with Chris being mad about BOW being used as soldiers which could be interesting

Personally, I’ve always loved the smaller moments in RE games over the overarching plot but I’m just a small part of a massive fanbase for a series that’s been around for 25 years.
I feel the problem that Capcom is dealing with is trying to please multiple segments of the fanbase at once.
Are you like me and like the series for it’s moment to moment scares and personal (albeit campy) drama? Here’s two first person games with a completely vulnerable protagonist, stuck in a horrifying location, and trying rescue a loved one from a bunch of wacky freaks.
Do you miss the older games’ lore and tangled web of shadowy organizations? Well, here comes Chris Redfield and a mysterious new plot about the BSAA turning bad.
The obvious effect is that a lot of elements wind up feeling half baked with no time to develop. Mia’s a bioterrorist mercenary that’s gotten kidnapped and emotionally tortured twice, we gonna go into that? Are BSAA the bad guys now? Where’s Umbrella Blue in this? Remember the Connections? Not to mention that Mother Miranda gets maybe five minutes of screen time.

Well, that's where the remakes kind of fit too in terms of pleasing two audience BUT it kind of goes in a circle to end up back where they started and the audience for a remake on 4 hasn't been there since fans are fine with the game as is

There are places where the game could be tightened up and the action could be modernized a bit, but I think people would be pretty pissed off with taking too many radical departures, especially if they do like the 3 remake and make a ton of it just take place in the castle sewers or something. Really I think what I'd most want from a 4 remake is for it to be just as stupid and self-aware, just in different ways and locations with the occasional curveball. Say the island is where you could most get away with alterations while the castle the least so; most of the super memorable nonsense is in chapter 4, while on the island the main memorable things are the Regenerators, Oven Man (who I would put somewhere other than the island in remaking it to keep the surprise factor), Mike, Krauser, and to a degree the truck scene. I don't know that anyone would mind much if you heavily changed up U3 or you cut J.J. or something.
