I assume it's in the Okada/Naito/Tanahashi realm.

"Forbidden Door" is used for someone active in another major company, right? If it were a free agent they wouldn't use that?

Jeff Hardy somehow got out of his 90 day or doesn't give a damn about it?

Jeff Hardy somehow got out of his 90 day or doesn't give a damn about it? If it's a Forbidden Door signing, it could be Jeff... maybe he cited wrongful release due to what's been going on? Could be someone else entirely.

twitter.com/MATTHARDYBRAND/status/1489830178234810369?t=k_oRVeYHPsjEiPGT2t9qRQ&s=19The Jeff teases continue. Where there is smoke there is fire. - Forbidden Door and coming from a company that is open for business (WWE) - Faces Isaiah Cassidy, teasing Matt dropping Private Party for Jeff - Walking through the door, signing and slamming the door - Jeff closing the book on WWE Also, the most obvious fact that he would be in a qualifying match for ladder match.

Saying it's a Forbidden Door thing suggests to me that it's either someone from DDT or NJPW (Jay White and G.O.D are coincidentally making guest appearances in Impact right now) or an ROH guy. A free agent like a Keith Lee or Jeff Hardy kinda goes against the whole "Forbidden Door" spirit.

The Forbidden Door can also include WWE, Khan teased that it could be companies that AEW aren't on good terms with, and "Slamming the door shut" doesn't indicate to me that it's a company on good terms with AEW or maybe the rest of the wrestling world Khan could be debuting someone like Jeff as a way to say "If you wanna use the Forbidden Door term, you can have the door slammed shut too" But it's speculation at the moment, this is what you want though, big buzz heading into the show.

My "holy shit this is way out there and almost certainly not happening" choice is Mustafa Ali.

My "holy shit this is way out there and almost certainly not happening" choice is Mustafa Ali. Not as long as he's under contract. Now, I could see Tony Khan deciding to defy a no-compete deal, since they benefit WWE way more than they benefit AEW (seeing as though AEW doesn't generally release people because they don't have anything for them) and it's actually somewhat questionable as to whether they would hold up legally. But AEW actually breaking a WWE contract and leading to a costly legal battle that he is guaranteed to lose just isn't happening. Or if somehow, courts upheld that decision, you would see WWE deciding to f*** with AEW's contracts in turn and they start signing anyone they can, resulting in a total free-for-all that no one could predict.

Yeah, you're right. Like, the only way I could see it being Ali is if Megha Parekh found a massive loophole in his contract. But that's incredibly unlikely.
And with AEW confirming it's a free agent and not someone working for another company, that pretty much kills that idea lol. My guess is now it's Keith Lee or Jeff Hardy.

Doesn’t have to be someone active in another company. I think they used the Forbidden Door term for Bobby Fish’s debut too. I’m guessing it’s Keith Lee.

I’m a little confused here.
Tony said that it would be somebody walking in through the Forbidden Door, but then said they’d be signing with AEW.
The Forbidden Door implies companies working with one another and talents under contract elsewhere working for different companies.
If the person in question is signing with AEW, then they’re a free agent. It’s just a former WWE/ROH/Impact/NJPW/whatever wrestler signing with a new promotion. That’s not the Forbidden Door.
