Not only would this be huge for AEW, but it'd be huge for wrestling in general I don't think we'd see a bigger Japan Name in the states since Nakamura debuted in NXT. This is a huge deal, and as others have said perfect timing, he needs a break from New Japan. And that was Nakamura in the tail end of his career. This is Okada in his prime. And I don't remember how popular Nakamura was at the height of his popularity but Okada is arguably the most popular wrestler in Japan. He's a star in every sense of the word.

Okada and Nakamura at one point seemed quite at an even level of popularity, both appeared in a music video too if I recall, but I think now? Okada has surpassed that height. He is one of the biggest stars of Japan in the modern era by a country mile. This would get a ton of buzz in Japan, and might even get a ton of Japan Wrestling casuals to look at AEW, not even considering what it could do for curious US fans. And for a new company still trying to grow its overall reach and footprint, that would be huge for AEW. And that's really what these partnerships are aiming to achieve. Goodwill and trust in a world where it's been burned too many times.

Believe me. Japanese fans don't care very much for WWE (thats why WWE don't do many shows over there), they sure as heck won't care for AEW. They don't mind American's coming over though.

Please give me Lethal and Gresham in AEW. Lethal is great and Gresham just might be the best technical wrestler in the world outside of ZSJ. I do wonder when ROH will eventually join, seems almost inevitable. Same with Aldis showing up with the NWA title, seeing as it seems the NWA at this point is only their champions

Does ROH still have Trios titles, they and Matt could go for them.

AEW's been teasing their own Troos belt for a bit now, so idk if they'd need ROH's, all depends on that road I would very much like to see ROH involved though, like before the Marty shit went completely south, everyone thought they and AEW were gonna work together first...

Only thing I’ll say: don’t immediately throw him into a feud with Kenny. There are other matches you can do. An Okada/MJF program would be seriously lit. Take note of MJF’s ring work, it’s pretty underrated. The two could put on a banger.

Don’t even like bringing it up because it’s such a bummer but in some alternate universe, Marty is leading ROH against AEW in finally getting his vengeance .. 🥲

I really don't want to see Jay Lethal anywhere near an AEW ring tbh.

They both know how to use a babyface’s tendencies in a match to his advantage. I think that would be quite the match.

Especially since Okada would be extra cocky since he would tower over MJF (think Silver & Gallows the other week just not as extreme...or with zero baby face sympathy for the shorter of the two 😂)

Thee biggest forbidden door, Cody said he wouldn't rule out a WWE/AEW crossover To their credit, they haven’t ruled that out since AEW started. I mean, HHH also said they wouldn’t rule out anything with “other companies” but by the time he said that, he wasn’t really in any position to make that happen.

Just because there has been talk of AEW/WWE stuff, it’s good to remind people that AEW/WWE technically happens two years ago today in OTT Wrestling in Dublin, Ireland.
Basically, this match had been booked at the end of last year when both were free agents. In the space of two months, WALTER appeared after the first NXT UK Takeover and PAC appeared at the press conference launch of AEW, basically confirming both were signed to the respective companies mere weeks before the actual show.
And since WALTER was on a flexible booking contract and PAC was still doing dates before the replacement appearance, neither side were in the position to pull the other out, so it happened.
It ended in a double DQ but it was still a really fun experience. It was also the match where PAC broke his finger and clicked them back in mid match because that’s the dude PAC is.
