Just guessing, but I don't see Sony Onoo won't be appearing on any Turner TV. Due to the lawsuit? Maybe, but that was 20 years ago, so I don't really know that they'd still be upset about it on the Turner side of things. Sonny, I dunno how he'd feel about it.

I mean, I wouldn't blame Sonny for being hesitant if he is but I also wouldn't be surprised if he'd show up for a cameo because, well, AEW isn't WCW as far as we know, part of that being that Turner doesn't own AEW and likely doesn't plan to since...well, *waves hands towards Turner's entire history with WCW and the money pit it became*.

If someone asked me to give them three matches that shows all the attributes I think define Nagata, it would be these three that I found on Youtube.
His Tokyo Dome match against Minoru Suzuki shows the pure strong-style that he's well known for. He's a New Japan classic in that regard. It's all there: slaps, forearms, elbows, knees, submissions, suplexes. You name it. Nagata is a master of all those things.
His Tokyo Dome match with Kurt Angle shows just what a great pure wrestler he is. There's a reason why he was originally scheduled for the ROH Pure Title Tournament pre-COVID, and why Bryan Danielson rates him as one of the best pure wrestlers ever.
And then there's the 2011 All Japan Pro Wrestling Champion's Carnival final with pre-"Cold Skull" SANADA. All the pure wrestling and strong style is there. No doubt. However, there's one thing that shines through in this match that you'll see anytime Nagata wrestles outside New Japan Pro Wrestling: his desire to prove his promotion as the best. Even to the point of Suzuki-like sadism and Okada-like showboating. All the things that he claims to fight against inside the Cerulean Blue he ironically embodies when in enemy territory. It's brilliant. Makes me wonder if he'll show any of that in AEW against Moxley. I'd love to see it, personally.

If all involved parties follow this mindset, then the next several years of pro wrestling are going to be something special.

Needs to be said, especially since he was there for the show, but tons of credit needs to go to Rocky Romero.
Romero has pretty much assumed the old Tiger Hattori spot of being the US liaison for NJPW, and given all the complexities of the COVID era it seems clear to me that he’s used it all as an opportunity to get NJPW wrestlers exposure in tons of different places, whether it’s gaijins looking to work some US promotions while international travel is still compromised or whether it’s something as big as Nagata appearing on Dynamite.
But yeah, Rocky is clearly one of the big forces behind NJPW Strong, and that show has guys from New Japan, ROH (Brodie King, PJ Black, Vincent, Chris Dickinson), MLW (Tom Lawlor, and apparently that happening at all was all Rocky), AEW (Danny Limelight and a couple guys who’ve popped up on Dark), even some Impact cameos (Chris Bey being in Super J Cup).
Meanwhile, we’ve now had KENTA and Nagata (with Ren Narita!) on Dynamite, FinJuice and ELP on Impact, Rocky himself in ROH and MLW, and likely plenty more when further opportunities open up. I don’t anticipate Okada or Naito just randomly showing up anywhere without a huge build to it, but the work being done here is a big deal, and again, a whole lot of it is the doing of Lil’ Hoot himself.

That Nagata/Moxley match f***ing ruled by the way, just an all out classic match with a big fight feel.

As awesome as it was to see Blue Justice on TNT again, I marked even harder for Ren Narita being there. For those that haven't seen him in action, go out of your way to do so. That dude is the future.

"I will go back to Japan" Are you sure Yuji? Your promotion isn't fairing too well right now let alone that entire country, I woulda given it a few weeks...

Honestly, if the whole thing ends tomorrow, it's entirely worth it just for this.

I feel like WCW going out of business and WWE's treatment of their history has meant we don't get a ton of nostalgia for the fun midcard stuff they had. I'm glad we got that moment though.

Nagata's reaction looks like he's saying:"What, you're still doing this, Sonny?"

Ren Narita is competing on Dark tonight This is the most excited I’ve been for Dark. If you’ve not seen Narita wrestle, you’re in for a treat. He’s been trained by a who’s who of Japanese Wrestling: Yuji Nagata Satoshi Kojima Katsuyori Shibata Jushin Liger Hiroyoshi Tenzan And so on.

Just pretend to be as excited when you hear it's announced for next week.
