Originally planned in 2007 for XBLA, it was ultimately scrapped. And though bits and pieces have been found, this is the first full playthrough

I'm not surprised they try to do this but I did not think they got this far into it. I thought it was pretty much they could not get the Bond license and that was the end of it.

When Activision had the James Bond license, this is what we should have gotten instead of that bland, boring, shitty CoD-ified version that we got.

This looks really tasty. You can see that the models and textures are redone but they didn't change the style.

The story behind this deserves to be discussed as well. Basically, from what I remember, Microsoft offered Nintendo publishing rights to Rare's entire back catalogue in exchange to the rights to port Goldeneye to XBLA. Nintendo of America readily agreed but when Nintendo of Japan found out they drew the line at working with a competitor and put the kybosh on the whole thing.

This could be released tomorrow and would easily be a huge money spinner.
Especially if it has multiplayer and we're stuck in lockdown.
I'd be nostalgia chopping my friends as May Day in a slappers match within the hour!

Nintendo shouldn’t have had to sign off, they don’t own the IP. Because I certainly don’t remember Microsoft having to cut a deal to remaster Perfect Dark or port Banjo-Kazooie for 360 or any of the games released on Rare Replay. The hang up would’ve had to have been on EON and Activision.

So Goldeneye fall in the same category as Donkey Kong Country series, Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox Adventure as being Nintendo own Rare games.

Now that Microsoft and Nintendo have a solid working relationship, maybe we'll see this see the light of day.

So cool, nothing wrong with the perfect dark release they did but this would have been amazing. As if you go back the original N64 Goldeneye is just so slow....
