There were four Billy Jack movies made: Born Losers(1967), Billy Jack(1970), The Trial of Billy Jack(1973), and Billy Jack Goes To Washington(1976). A fifth Billy Jack movie was in production but Tom Loughlin was injured on the set and production was stopped. The movies dealt with racism and bullies and had it's fair of fight scenes including the famous scene in the ice cream shop. What are your thoughts on the Billy Jack movies? It seems like people either love them or hate them.

I’ve only seen Billy Jack and remember only parts of it like some kind of b movie fever dream.

Hated the twist where Daniel Benoit was really Vince McMahon's kid from when he and Nancy totally did it after the first WrestleMania. #BombshellTonight

I had seen Billy Jack as a kid in the late 70s. Years back, like 5 or so years,at a local thrift got the boxed set of all 4 movies. Born Losers is good. Billy Jack is dated but good. The last 2 films are not good.

I've only seen the first two, "Born Losers" when it came out on BR, and "Billy Jack" when I first found it on video (and several times since). They are very 70's but cult classics and I think they're both great. The "I just go BERZERK" is a fantastic scene.
Not sure if this is widely known, but historians consider the third movie "The Trial of Billy Jack" as Hollywood's first 'blockbuster'. Laughlin didn't like how Warner Brothers was going to roll the movie out slowly, so he started renting theaters across the country and ended up being the first movie to debut in more than 1000 theaters on one night. Hollywood took note, and tried it in 1975 with the Bronson movie "Breakout" and has been doing it ever since.

Just watched the first film on Prime. It resonates and I guess I could re-live a fantasy of getting back at bullies through Billy Jack.

The ice cream shop scene where Billy goes berzerk is based on an incident Billy witnessed while living in South Dakota.

I got the full series on Blu-ray last July. I quickly watched Born Losers and Billy Jack. I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch Trial of Billy Jack or Billy Jack Goes to Washington.
I remember some channel used to play Billy Jack and Trial of Billy Jack back to back, sometimes twice. With commercials that shit is like a full day of programming. So I’m very familiar with the content of Trial of Billy Jack.
But I don’t have enough time to watch some movies I love. I refuse to make time for the nonsense of those latter Billy Jack films.
If I wanted to listen to someone like Tom Laughlin ramble at me for 3 hours I’d sit at the bus station.
