Also if we’re talking about Sky versions of GamesMaster, remember Gamezville?
They even had a cheese guru character called...Guru and everything!

Just to be controversial, I always preferred Games World on Sky with Bob Mills. Of the Fletcher/Diamond preference though, it’s Dominik Diamond all the way. The few times I saw Dexter Fletcher he always seemed to be feigning the enthusiasm. He’s gone on to have a decent career as a director though, so he hasn’t done too badly. I’m all for redoing old shows - Crystal Maze, Robot Wars etc - but Games Master seems a show very much of its time, so I don’t know if a celebrity reboot would work. The recent Go 8-Bit on Dave was a nice retro gaming show to watch, as it was rather niche. Games Master has such fond memories for people though that the revamp could be a bit lacking. We shall see. I loved Bob Mills. He was on several shows in the 90s and them just seemed to disappear. Shame, as he was bloody funny. Going off on a tangent here, but In Bed With Me Dinner was a gem of a student/cult programme. It was a sort of precursor to TV Burp. I saw Bob Mills about five years ago on a Channel 5 nostalgia show. He’s not aged well! Bigger, bespectacled and a huge mass of grey hair.

I watched In Bed with Medinner a few times but by the time I was old enough to watch it consistently, due to its late start time, the show was already on the way out. Luckily a mate of mine had a ton of episodes recorded, so we’d watch them all. Great stuff. There’s one particular clip on YouTube where it’s about living in some terrible tower block with a drunken, violent neighbour. It’s f***ing hilarious.

I'll join the Bob Mills fanclub. Used to love win, lose or draw. Daytime TV could do with something like that now, much better than property shows.

I know the exact clip you mean, and actually saw the original show that was from! The guy saying ‘What’s the matter, mate?’ had got divorced from the woman answering the door, and the drunk fella had obviously taken exception to her. In a previous part of the show they were fixing a bike, listening to Dire Straits and generally in good spirits. He’d obviously had a few sherbets in between scenes and came lurching into the flat all guns blazing...

Another Games World memory I have that I've never seen mentioned.
In the days it was a different show every week, there was a segment one day where it was a strip card game, I think higher or lower, get it wrong, take something off. There was a woman who got every single one wrong to the point they had to switch her out mid game because she would have had to get her underwear off next.
Bizzare idea for a game broadcast in the afternoon.

Also if we’re talking about Sky versions of GamesMaster, remember Gamezville? They even had a cheese guru character called...Guru and everything! I remember this. It was apparently aimed at teenagers, but I was a teenager when it was on and I thought it was chronically naff. It was very clearly some suit's idea of what was cool, with the hosts who clearly had a pretty negligible interest in games but who were "street", and the Z in the title that now just makes me think of Nozin' Aroun' from The Young Ones. It was patronising and shit.

I actually looked at the Wikipedia page trying to remember the name and did you know it was produced by Elizabeth Murdoch’s production company who were allowed about 100 hours of TV space on Sky channels after the divorce with Rupert and Gamezville was the result? Which probably explains a lot.

Which probably explains a lot. Just reading it now, it appears to have been the brainchild of her production company's "lifestyle and features" editor. Now, I may be being a bit ignorant and unfair here, but when I think "lifestyle and features" I mostly think of dross aimed at women in their fifties, which may be why it was so completely disconnected from its target audience.
Looking at some clips on YouTube, I had forgotten how low budget it was too. Ordinarily this isn't a problem, I sort of love low budget TV, but this was just so awful.

I remember as a kid when they spent a whole challenge building up a 'wedding' between Dominik and a celebrity. I legit thought it was real and happening in real time, dopy romantic that I was!

What a strange idea - I remember Jet from Gladiators being the Games Mistress, but I’m guessing she wasn’t the woman who was stripping. Damn shame...
