...They do realize that Scooby Doo is aimed at kids right? Meaning Serial Killers are the exact opposite of the appeal It's an adult animated show. Batman was aimed at kids, too. That doesn't stop them from doing, well, everything adult-oriented with him since the Silver Age ended. This isn't even the first Scooby Doo-related thing aimed at adults.

In that case I'm really looking forward to seeing Shaggy sexually assaulted and Daphne swearing every two seconds.

Also, and I've said this time and time again, if you're not going to change copyright law and put more stuff that should be into the public domain in there, as an IP holder you should be obligated to try new things with a property you own. Hell, if I were in charge, I'd make that into law unless they actually were going to change copyright law.

I'm kind of just wondering what form this is going to take exactly. Do think there's probably potential in the concept, but something about it - probably the fact it's on HBO Max - is making me kind of assume it's going to be like the Harley Quinn show and that just doesn't do it for me at all.

Mindy Kaling is a great comedic writer, so I imagine she can do a lot more with the show than make it a Harley Quinn clone.

"Velma! There is someone literally murdering me!"
"I think I can proof Old Man Allens isn't paying taxes on his land!"
"Velma, please! Every time the knife goes in, more of me comes out!"
"Do you think Old Man Crane might be the guy scaring kids at the laundromat?"
"VELMA...I...you...Vel."
"What are you saying? Oh, another person who'd rather sneak off, leaving a trail of kool-aid behind them than hang out with me. Will I ever find any real friends with a van to ride in so I don't have to keep walking everywhere?"
