Really good story to this match, Rosa looks so savvy in taking Nyla's leg out

Never realized before that Nyla's theme is just Wolf Totem by The Hu if you had three people singing the line instead of one person making three voices simultaneously. It's not a bad fit for her.

I hope Ryo wins. I have no desire to see Shida/Nyla again.

These Tourney Matches have all been some high quality bouts, really awesome for the women to showcase their stuff and show that 2021's gonna be a different year for them.

Man what a match! And if Ryo is going to win it all, I can see why Nyla won here. She's the perfect person to put her over strong going into the PPV. An established former hoss champion who's almost never lost on TV.

I feel like Rosa would've been a better overall match, but yeah if we get hoss fight and Ryo kills Nyla, I'd say that's probably a better outcome in terms of legitimacy and establishment. Puts her on Dynamite for the first time going toe to toe with the big monster of the division.

Booking seems weird to me unless they’ve hired Ryo and even if they have, I feel like she needs to beat Nyla and Shida. I feel like making such a big deal of this tournament only to have Shida wins puts us at square one again.
Personally, I think it’s time to put the belt on Britt and have faces chase her.

Sad to see a bunch of people complaining that Ryo and Nyla winning their brackets is "bad booking". I'm really sick of the old WWE-viewing mindset of "my favorite winning is good booking, my favorite losing is bad booking", because people conflate a loss with a de-push or something.
Either way, the match was damn good, and Nyla gets some credibility back after laying low for a little while and likely has a bruising match with Ryo this Wednesday. Whatever the outcome in all of this I'm confident they're telling a story, here, so even if this does end with Shida beating the winner it's still likely going somewhere.

I think the best way to describe the booking is "pragmatic," for good and ill. Mizunami started off by beating the woman who was predictably the most over on the Japanese side, then got two big wins; if she beats Nyla, she'll be coming in to her title match largely untested in terms of crowd response. Pitting her against Nyla Rose is a good way to make the audience root for her, but that's less because she's the hero and Nyla's the villain and more because a third Shida/Nyla match on PPV is a bleh prospect. But, Mizunami was almost assuredly the only option to win the Japanese side, and giving her Britt Baker instead of Nyla would possibly give fans a reason to side with Britt (due to familiarity and her hateability being charming in its own way) and also damage Britt ahead of a likely title challenge to whoever wins Shida vs. Mizunami.

It was as I said ,every talent was a good talent to win,be it Britt,Riho<Rosa,Yuka,Ryo. Just great talent all around
Plus Riho beat the NWA Champ building a feud,Nyla looks like a monster again and you have a new monster killer in Ryo

I dunno this is entiiiiirely fair. It's just really easy to make counterfactuals with the booking of a tournament, imagining how such-and-such matchup in the finals would be a good match or satisfying booking. And Nyla's hard to book, as she currently is. She's a monster heel but simultaneously the company doesn't want to book her as way better than everybody else, which means it's boring when she wins (because she's always the favorite) but it's also not exciting when she loses (because it's the old underdog victory thing we've seen before). It's hard to complain about a Ryo/Nyla finals match, because the in-ring stuff will be great. But I wouldn't call Rose's booking great.

I've enjoyed the tournament a lot, and Nyla vs Ryo is probably the ideal for me. Nyla's formidable but still good at selling, and while Rosa is also really good, doesn't Nyla have much more experience than her working with joshi? Like, I know Thunder Rosa has competed in Japan, but I don't know if she did it to the extent Nyla did.
I don't think that there's basically any chance Nyla goes to the PPV as challenger, but having Ryo going to the PPV with wins over Yuka, Nyla, TWO wins over Aja considering Ryo's sole AEW appearance prior to the tournament... that's going to be a respectable resume, to say the least. I think Ryo likely wins it all.

I think Rosa would should have been the best option. She had plenty of build up in AEW and this would have made for a good rematch against Shida. Someone on the japanese side winning is tricky since almost all of them would be new to AEW. Ryo is talented but giving her the title so soon into her AEW debut is gonna be a big gamble that better pay off.

I think everything they've done will make sense if you book backwards from the decision that Ryo is winning. If you're going to do that, you need her to beat some good talent on the Japan side (a popular Maki Itoh, a legend in Aja Kong, and a talent prominently featured on AEW TV in Yuka). And then you decide who she should face in the finals. Could she have better matches with a Rosa or a Riho? Probably! But I like the Nyla pick since it will be a cleaner face/heel dynamic, she'll be able to overcome a size disadvantage, and she'll beat a former champion who literally almost never loses. If Nyla wins, well throw all of that out the window. But if Ryo is the choice, it all makes sense to me. Now if they had full control of who could come over from Japan, I might have picked someone else. But there definitely seems to be forces beyond that at play and I think Ryo is ultimately a good choice regardless.

The Japan side feels like KOTR 1995. Seems like a really weird choice to win in a tournament with Emi Sakura, Yuka Sakazaki and Aja Kong.

I loved the Special. The 6 woman tag and the main event were both 4+ star matches for me. I really hope they just start showing more AEW branded matches from Japan. And Rosa versus Riho was just special.
As far as Ryo goes, I'm not feeling her at all, but she's moving to the US and she seems to be cared about by Shida. In the end, its just a story to get a title match for someone Shida probably respects, wants to have a big match with, and had the stroke to do it.
Nyla is friends with alot of Joshis and worked with them. Her getting to the final may also be about her eventually working in Japan for a bit, when it's possible. I like Baker, Rio and Thunder Rosa more, but Nyla needed the win as more then any of them to stay relevant. And her matches have been better.
