It wasn't even the match! It was the "mic shots". People saw that and use that any time they want to shit on her and cast her aside Because god forbid any wrestler ever have one awkward career moment. And even that was understandable, seeing how she had an earpiece on at the time that she did those mic shots and doing a full-on hit with the mic could have blown her eardrum out. Then either take the ear piece out or don't hit Shida with the mic. It made Shida look like shit for having to sell it.

The initial hit was good enough and then the rest could have been taken as Maki posturing about it. It was really a nothing spot when like five different brawls were happening at once It certainly doesn't make her the "drizzling shits" as a worker.

They're generally sloppy in the ring and dangerous to others in the ring. What Itoh lacks in technical prowess, she makes up in raw charisma and how she composes herself.

Her last two matches (vs Mizuki in the semis of the Princess Cup and vs Shoko in the final, hell even going back to the tag title match and her match against Miyu) are really good, great even. She’s limited but imo goes bonkers in big matches. I think the idea that she’s not good in the ring but all character is outdated by about half a year by now. It still annoys me that some people assume she can't work after two matches in AEW (where she looked just fine in one of them). Especially since her two matches were a tag and a trios match, both really low on the card, and in both, she was the least important person. That's just not a great sample of any wrestler. At absolute best, a spot monkey gets to do a couple cool flips and then get beaten up until they tag out. I wouldn't judge any wrestler by that level of exposure alone unless they horrifically botched.

Maki Itoh is the drizzling shits as a wrestler. The next time I see her trying to wrestle will be too soon.

I saw her match in the tournament against Mizunami and she wasn't very good there either. She could of course be better by now, she clearly works hard. But I said then, and I think with good reason, that there was reason for concern whether she could held up her end of any sort of serious match against non-Joshi. The mic shot didn't enter into it at all.
Maki has a lot of intangibles that make up a great wrestler, and her charisma can carry her a long way even if she never gets past where she was when she fought Ryo Mizunami. I wouldn't call her the "drizzling shits", but wrestling is an art form, people will have different opinions and use hyperbole at times.

Never-mind the discourse, we're counting down to the return of Deathmatch Maki Itoh. Wrestle Peter Pan is happening in like 3 or 4 hours and Itoh is on the pre-show in an Electric Current Explosion 8-Man Tag Deathmatch teaming with Atsushi Onita in Kawasaki Stadium.

AEW needs to hire the person who set this up because this looks 10x more insane than their Exploding Barbwire death match.

I mean, AEW did try and bring in Onita for their match, and if you check out how reckless and cool the FMWE show was, (which was Onita saying, "oh, AEW f***ed up, I have to show the people what real exploding matches can be" and was wild) had he been in AEW that might have been enough.

I don't think Eddie knows what he's potentially unleashed.

Eddie Kingston in DDT for a spell would be great. Just Kingston/Akiyama, Kingston and Itoh doing some wild interaction, Kingston interacting with like Hirata and the DDT comedy guys who are not Dieno.
