not even counting his real life bullshit , it seems he just isnt bringing the same numbers or interest anymore.
His most recent matches left a lot to desire too ans the numbers of his segments havent brought the same numbers anymore
No doubt AEW needed him before, but do they need him now?

He could be a benefit if he wasn’t a weekly character and took breaks like was originally the plan.

If he finishes this current angle, elevates Sammy, MJF, and Santana and Ortiz in the process? He'll have had a wildly successful run, but will also not need to do a single thing else, ever.

He is a benefit but I was just thinking to myself today. Up until last night, I don't think that any titles were currently involved in a feud. The tag titles match was only announced for Revolution, the TNT title isn't involved in the Darby/Team Taz feud and Omega didn't have anyone lined up. The women's title is a one off match based on the tournament.
Obviously last night has changed a few of those things but maybe it plays in.

I honestly think Jericho has kinda rub his course. If he puts over the inner circle and then pops out just for rare special appereances ,i think it would be for the best

One of the reasons I watch the show every week.
Other than 1 iffy Lionsault (and his next one was flawless), I haven't seen any reason in-ring or promos that suggests he shouldn't be on tv

I don't really think he really has much left to give as a wrestler after this angle with Sammy and MJF resolves (not that he's the drizzling shits in-ring, but he's at the "done it all" stage of his career), but if he took a long break (at least 6 months), and then came back to do commentary or whatever, maybe.

Orange Cassidy seems to be much worse off after feuding with Jericho. If they were ever going to strap up Santana and Ortiz last night was the best chance to do it.

Yeah I want to see where this goes with Sammy and MJF. He isn’t all over the show every week. I’d much rather watch Jericho than Matt Hardy.

He still wrestles perfectly fine, he had one off match with Cassidy and one real bad botch in the Lionsault which he corrected the very next match
He's clearly knowing his role of trying to elevate people around him, he still plays a good character, and despite what some people might think lf his IRL shit, unless he is actively turning off people to AEW in droves (And the ratings show he is not), he will never be more of a detriment than a benefit to the company.

When they announced it was their first title match I shouted at the tv “What the hell Tony” I know they shouldn’t be giving away title matches left and right, but in a year and half almost and that’s the first time their in a title match, you’ve done screwed up.

Orange Cassidy seems to be much worse off after feuding with Jericho. If they were ever going to strap up Santana and Ortiz last night was the best chance to do it. That's not on Jericho. He beat Jericho twice. They put him in a no win situation with Cody's TNT Title run right after the fact. He's been building the Miro feud up well though, and it's as others have even said, even critics, Cassidy is still a star for the company, he moves merch, he gets numbers, he has mainstream appeal. He's not in the big main event feuds right now, but he's breaking that stigma that you NEED to be a MADE STAR by immediately getting a title or being in main event feuds nonstop.

I don't think they especially need him to draw at this point, and personally he's a major turn-off to me. A lot of this pandemic has been cases of Jericho doing stupid shit that got me annoyed with AEW as a whole for continually enabling him. I think I'd have a stronger opinion of the whole company if that idiot was gone.

Benefit.
Especially if you take in his star power at AEW’s inception, title reign, title loss and current state of seemingly in the process of elevating MJF/the inner circle guys. He’s not taking the main focus currently, as he shouldn’t be, and I’m guessing within a year or two (or whenever his contract is up) his trajectory will be waning down to cement certain talent.

He's a complete doofus outside the ring. But if we're just considering his in-ring stuff, he's working well as a supporting character on AEW right now.

We also really need to get away from this "Main eventer or glorified jobber" mindset a lot of people have from WWE programming. Being in the AEW midcard is not a bad thing nor is it a detriment to being considered a star.

As a character, Chris Jericho has been fantastic for AEW, a great first heel champ, the cruise being a great location shoot for Dynamite, his promos and commentary are consistently pretty damn good and puts people over, and he's given a lot of direction and focus on the likes of Sammy and MJF. But sadly the irl stuff makes it hard to say he's a benefit for the company right now, which is sad to say as someone who once counted him as my fave of all time.

Based purely on what happens onscreen, he's still a benefit. I think they've used him well since he's moved out of the world title picture and he's helping get guys over. I don't want him anywhere near the world title again (and I don't really want him and MJF to win the tag belts either) but his segments are still fun to watch.

I personally have only enjoyed Jericho actually wrestling, having a good match on any technical level, a handful of times in AEW.
But he is deep fried gold as a character nearly every week. And he has helped get over every member of the Inner Circle, Orange Cassidy, Moxley, Cody, Kenny?
Like I agree he shouldn't be on every week. But only because nobody should be.

There’s still stuff he can do such as MJF taking over Inner Circle and Jericho going face. Also would be cool to see Sting vs Jericho, but at this point he’s pretty stale and has been since about the start of this MJF stuff.
