f*** it. Happy for him. Include me in the “thought-it-was-a-joke” camp when my friend messaged me about it. As a commentator, spokesman, trainer, persona, on air talent, he’s pretty priceless to AEW whereas he became absolutely irrelevant and a joke for the WWE. So f*** it, everybody wins Now let’s get to brass tacks: officialfan.proboards.com/thread/607113/gifs-pics-big-show?page=1Is AEW Board exclusive now baby.

Will we finally get Show vs Shaq? What about Show vs Marko? That’d be cool since that’s Markos favorite wrestler.

PWInsider.com is told that WWE and Wight were unable to come to terms on a new deal financially and his final contract with the company last month, days after he made an appearance being verbally bullied by Randy Orton on the Raw Legends Night episode on 1/4. One source stated that Wight was very open that night about his unhappiness about the situation. Wight, who did not publicly announce his departure, was moved this week to WWE.com's Alumni section on 2/19. I mean, for as much as people laughed at how that went, it was just a weird spot to use him in when you promoted it as a Legends Night. And even before then, that catatric moment of him with Christian and Michaels taking revenge on Orton just felt like a waste of time too. He repeatedly did whatever the company asked of him, even was a glorified ambassador for them with his various media appearances and TV show, all the while the WWE just seemingly never wanted to use him for the in-ring work he got himself in the best shape of his life for. I could absolutely see his frustrations reaching a boiling point, when meanwhile there's a new hot company in town that's not only open to using the legends of the industry effectively, but also willing to have an open mind on suggestions from the staff. This, combined with his ability to help the big men with their in-ring work (not just from a matter of moves, but also the kind of stories you can tell with a guy that size while staying healthy), this is a boon for both sides IMO.

The guy has a sitcom on Netflix that's actually pretty funny. Not sure WWE ever promoted it, though.

"As 2021 shapes up to be the year for AEW’s biggest shows yet, today the promotion announced that wrestling legend Paul Wight signed a long-term deal,"

Big Show is the definition of a guy who I think could just use a change in scenery. I think he'll be great on commentary but just working somewhere else can revitalize someone's in ring career. Big Show vs. Orton for the 50th time? Not interested. Paul Wight vs. Wardlow or Archer or Fenix? Sign me up.

WWE should have promoted it more because he's playing himself and literally half the show is him doing things after being in WWE. They get name dropped a ton and they've had Foley, Rikishi, and Mark Henry on an episode. Seems like a no-brainer.

Seriously always thought he was a WWE lifer, but I guess getting strung around by the damned company for years like that would turn just about anyone! I think that’s the crazier about this for me. I genuinely thought he’d be with WWE for life and retire after a couple more cameos. It also feels weird they never tested him as a commentator considering he is really funny in the right situations and has a tonne of experience. It’s not a massive coup but it’s still pretty surreal. If he’s there for that, that’s a pretty nice coup. Tony, Dean, Jericho, Show, Sting, Arn, Tully, Dustin plus cameos of Capetta & Muta. There's a lot of love to the JCP/WCW era of Turner wrestling.

It’ll be weird having a guy on commentary who looks like he could crush and eat your entire roster.

They've got to do Marko and Show as a tag team, even if it's a one night only Dark thing. Marko would be stoked.

One could argue Big Show main evented Mania last year. I'm not saying he did...but you could argue it...

I didn't see this coming. I think he will be good as an announcer. He's always been a good talker and has a fair amount of charisma. I think he'll have fun in this role. He should be a good addition behind the scenes since he brings a lot of experience and is a respected veteran who seems to have a very good reputation in the locker room.

Yeah, it felt especially weirder with how big a deal they made the Netflix deal out to be and then...practically nothing. Like, even if the excuse was "Well, NBC wouldn't like it" like The Mandalorian might be...they produced it. It's literally a WWE Studios production.
