In all seriousness, the announce team they have is fine...for the most part. JR is still great but there have been some examples of him being off a step at times. Schiavone has definitely been head and shoulders above his WCW days, at least so far. The only role I could see Tenay really bringing anything to thet able for would be as the host of backstage segments, and maybe also various AEW streaming events. But no denying that Tenay was great as The Professor in WCW, and at least for a while he was a perfect announcer for TNA. And you can't convince me his name hasn't come up in various AEW meetings.

I have no clue what Tenay is doing, last I heard when he was brought up I think to Tony Schiavone is that he was just living in Vegas and enjoying his life

Last I heard Mike Tenay had a successful betting business, or something like that, in Las Vegas. I think they have enough veteran announcers, and honestly if they're going to hire another announcer I'd rather they go with someone new and underrepresented. Like a Renee Paquette or Stevie Ray, or something like that. I'm still sore Stevie Ray never announced after WCW, he was AMAZING.

Only if he wears a top hat, monocle, and swank suit and calls all of the moves long winded overly detailed names.

I've never really been much of a Mike Tenay fan, so I'm good.

Only if he recreates that high-five GIF, but doing it with Excalibur instead of Don West.

I like Tenay, but they have Schiavone, Ross, Excalibur, Tazz, Wight, Veda Scott, Anthony Agogo, Jericho, Starks and others who can all do commentary when needed, they're not short of guys already under contract.

I think Tenay would be good as some kind of correspondent or representative in terms of, say, a growing relationship between AAA and AEW ala the History of Lucha Libre videos he did for WCW rather than commentary as right now, the field is pretty packed with people who are, at best, learning on the job.
If I WERE to get anyone, I'd try and find a way to get Goldenboy full time when JR's contract expires but then Goldenboy has a full plate and he's not exactly going to say "Eh, I'm not going to carry on doing this NBC show with Dwayne Johnson, I'm going to go to cable TV" any time soon.

He retired quietly a few years ago, living in vegas with a business, rumored before they hired Drake Maverick as a 205 gm, they initially offered Tenay the role

I mean...probably not.
Excaliber is essentially the Mike Tenay of the current crew.

I don't think AEW needs him.
I hated him as a TNA shill.

I liked Tenay fine enough, but as others have said, pretty sure he's retired for good.
