Anyone have any clues or answers to why? No, but supposedly someone dm'ed Billy Corgan and his response was "Don't worry." and Meltzer said good news was coming. So hopefully we will hear something soon. The NWA would need a bit of a reboot I imagine, most of the major stars of the promotion are in NXT or AEW now and was unfortunately plagued by Cornette's racist commentary and the Dave Lagana's SpeakingOut moment.

It’s a name, a logo, a small video library, a collection of belts, and some left over contracts. Going by Powerr / Shockwave the every male currently on the “roster” is also a champion. Aldis is World, Murdoch is NA, Pope is TV, Stevens is half of the tag team. Seeing how Drake just showed up in NXT and Storm had come back to drop the tag belts. Who knows if these talents are even still under contract. Also far as I can tell Rosa and Kamille were the last two women still under contract. It would be great if Powerrr could come back but that sounds like a fever dream at this point. Who knows what will happen.
RIP Question Mark.

I’ve seen some people speculate that the videos being taken down may mean they’ve hammered out some sort of streaming or broadcasting deal.
Then again, it may just be the company wanting a clean start. It reportedly doesn’t involve AEW, and Corgan’s comment would suggest it’s not been gobbled by WWE or anything. We’ll have to wait and see, I suppose.

I hope it comes back in some capacity just since it would be really f***ed up if Jocephus's body of work is just gone.

I really liked the product they were putting on before the pandemic; having a home for really old school style wrestling absolutely has a niche it can appeal to and it offers a really attractive place to work for talent that might not be the most dynamic in the ring (no insult, we’re just in a golden age of athleticism) but who can work that Crockett style and storytelling well. Hopefully they’ve found a new home and can get a few more bucks behind them.

According to WOR, tapings are scheduled for March 21st, and an announcement of "positive" news about the future of the promotion.

They are going to need a lot of overhaul since most of the roster as since left. Corgan best bet is to keep the relationship with AEW going and hope for a crossover like AEW did with impact. The issue is Corgan has to get a new roster. With pretty much all the star power they had left besides the champion. Storm went back to Impact, Eli Drake in NXT, Starks AEW, Bennett (Last challenger for the World title) signed with ROH, Barrett (who was doing Color) now in NXT, There current womens champion is under AEW contract. Thunder Rosa as one foot in the door of AEW signing her soon I believe.

With the core group of champs, bring back Tim Storm, Ricky Morton, they could bring in some UWN guys like Watts, past talent like Crimson or Jax Dane. It’s sounds like both and impact reached out to Carlito. Indies are booming with amazing talent looking for work. It won’t take much. I’d love to see WARHORSE in there.

So happy NWA is popping up again.
I do wonder what AEW/ROH/other stars would or will be brought in. With the Sammy Guevara/Impact situation would be interesting if he popped up there (though his style doesn't really fit). Maybe even Shawn Spears. Personally I think they should really take advantage of the AEW partnership. Bring in guys like Comorado, Kilynn King, JD Drake who have all appeared on Dark.

I figured it was going to be bad news that they went down when I foudn out. Glad that that's not the case; I haven't watched since the Cornette incident when it came out that Lagana was covering for him with editing on the regular, but more wrestling existing isn't a bad thing. Hopefully they can turn things around.

But yeah, for now I think NWA would have to take advantage of this new post-Forbidden Door world we're in and bring in some talent from all over (would open up some potential political landmines, but that can be navigated), and then dip back into the indies. That's not a bad thing: a promotion at NWA's current size can't really bank on having a ton of full-timers who'll be around for a super long stretch, so being prepared for turnover and bringing in new people makes sense.

I hope NWA comes back soon so we can see the arms race between WWE, AEW, Impact, ROH, MLW, and NWA that we were starting to see in 2019 again
