Tnat last one is a bold assumption , but I think if Khan does things right it is possible. For what it's worth, Meltzer's been projecting that AEW and Raw will be having ratings battles by the fall but mainly due to the rapid decline of Raw's ratings. Who knows what this (plus the return of crowds) will do to that It isn't that great a risk to make such a prediction. Only a few short years ago Raw averaged 4 million viewers during 'Mania season now they are lucky if they can crack half that or 2 million. The WWE is undergoing a steep decline in popularity and were before the pandemic struck. We have a saying in my profession (Sociology & Political Science) "the trend is your friend" if you want to know the future of something a good rule of thumb is to look closely at the present and recent past.

I said on the WWE board it's a good move for both shows as both have shown in limited time that they both have significantly better ratings.
Also will say this, as much as people laugh at the demos, advertisers and networks are well aware of those numbers so that will also play a part

Great news for AEW. Think this means they’ll bottom out at ~850k every week. Every time they’ve been unopposed they seem to get up there.

He'll be opposed by Hockey on USA, but that shouldn't be a huge issue for AEW as a whole.

Guy's Grocery Games vs. AEW = The New Wednesday Night Wars Would be worth it for a BTE parody of Guy's King's Hawaiian bread commercial.

A big hearty "lol" to Paul and the massive failure that is the WWE Performance Center.

I’m pretty happy with this if it happens. It’s really sucked to see what is far and away WWE’s best show be used as a pawn for a petty ratings grab. NXT deserves better.

I hope this benefits both shows for the sake of the talent, but I do feel for Impact here, this isn't going to be doing them any favors. The Shitbag Promos from the Forbidden Door are about to find a whole new gear 😂😂

Just is gonna make sense I feel, I dont know how much Hockey they're going to get in the long run as ESPN/ABC got a lot in the deal but NBC and USA have been confirmed to be getting games and the big night is still Wednesday Hockey It's gonna be good for both shows really.

On one hand, I'm gonna miss having two options when I decide to watch wrestling on Wednesdays. Because whenever NXT would have a match or segment that just bored me to tears, I'd check out what was going on over at TNT. And whenever AEW had a segment that I just found too silly, I'd flip to NXT.
On the other hand, I'm gonna be a happy camper if I never have to see anyone arguing about "key demos" again. (As said in this thread already, this place has been chill about the ratings stuff, but other places on the internet have been all tribal and toxic)

I find it hard to believe this is STILL a rumor and not verified by WWE. Until they say it, I'll believe it when I see it.

Well now it's a reality. I think it's an amazing achievement that a start-up wrestling company beat the monopoly that prides itself on putting other companies out of business. Sure, the narrative will be Hockey Night, and the weird obsession with AEW getting a million in overnights, but people should give credit where credit is due. Beating WWE in ratings consistently is something that only happened for a bit in the 90's, and had AEW kept losing, things might be different right now. I can only imagine the social media narrative if AEW was the one that moved after being lower rated for a year and a half.
Just being on Twitter, the anti-AEW crowd is still trying to spin this as a negative towards AEW fans, but whatever, AEW survived the marathon and is now more than a pissant company. And Thank God I don't have to see another AEW-NXT war graphic ever again. Worse than the ratings stuff was the association between the two. Quality of wrestling, wrestlers, "NXT is not a real brand". Both deserve to exist in their own world, wrestlers deserve to have a chance to flourish without being compared to another company, and finally the higher ups in NBC made it happen.
