So it wasn't a giant donut like I thought it was. I'm sad now.

I can see why they didn't want another Ultimate X situation where the thing is too light, but oof. That sounds very annoying to deal with.

Very often when thinking about new directions a wrestler can go in to freshen themselves up, a lot of us will look to the past and try to figure out something that worked for someone else in the old days, and try to graft it upon someone going today.
Well, that's pretty much what my brain did yesterday when I finished watching Dynamite on my DVR; the more I watched Sky and had in the back of my mind "he's going to barely lose, snap, and attack Darby after the match, isn't he?", the more I started to think that Sky could make a sort of Mr. Perfect-style gimmick work.
Whatever people think of his overall act, Sky is smooth as hell in the ring and isn't confined to one style of wrestling, which can absolutely contribute to a confident "I know I'm good" swagger. Play up his overall athleticism, his confidence working whatever style against whatever opponent, and use that to pump up his ego. Hell, ring up Lanny Poffo, throw a robe and mortar board on him, and start having him read pre-match poems about Sky's abilities, while Sky mugs for the camera and maybe also has Alex Gracia by his side or something. Mix that up with a bit of MVP's old WWE gimmick, the "show me the money" type of pro athlete, and I tell him to play it to the hilt; it'd add another dimension to having that image of Kobe Bryant in his entrance video.
