The only thing I didnt like was the commentary. They really shouldn't have had the commentary but I think it was used to mask them building the sparklers ...didn’t consider that, actually. Like, I would say don’t have the crowd noise on but then stuff like the Jericho Cody parody wouldn’t have worked if they didn’t do that so I can get it.

You blow up someone with sparklers and everyone gets a bit crazy...

I'd have removed the music and have the commentary be more subdued during the non-high spots. But overall, loved the match.

I haven't seen the show yet but I refuse to believe that. HHH vs Sting was one of the worst things I've ever seen, from the NWO coming out to save Sting like Lex Luther coming out to save Superman to HHH offering a gracious handshake after cheating to win and Sting just accepting it like a little bitch.

Don't worry, man. This was more or less a bait post. Team Tazz vs. Sting/Darby wasn't an all time classic or anything, but it was a lot of fun to watch and wasn't even in the same stratosphere of atrocious as Sting/HHH. And as much as I'm coming off as a WWE "hater" at the moment, HHH is probably my all-time favorite wrestler. But I can admit that the 46-year-old version of Triple H going over in a 19 minute ego stroke that completely ruined a debut that was literally 20 years in the making and made absolutely no narrative sense was not an especially good match.

The production value was incredible. The constant commentary took away from the match though.
I remember the commnetary being a lot more sparse during Stadium Stampede, they should've gone with that.

Triple H was a better choice than Taker as Taker needs to be carried in a way Sting has never been able to do. I don't think they should have used it to give the kliq a payday though.

Plus, I'm sure that my feelings would be different if HHH actually ended up working a program with the Rock so that "putting HHH over" in 2015 made even the tiniest amount of sense, but it didn't end up working out that way. Even if Sting wanted to put HHH over, or even if you want to argue that it was the "right" move, there were better ways to do it. That match was just a terrible narrative, and felt like WWE saying "na na na na boo boo" to the corpse of WCW for 20 minutes 20 years after its death.

Yeah, I'm willing to admit that I'm looking at this all with the benefit of hindsight. It's really unfortunate that cinematic matches hadn't become as prominent as they are now when Sting was in WWE, because I really think that Sting/Taker in something reminiscent of the Boneyard match was the move.

Time for a ban for trolling. Also Sting career is no longer ended. Tony Khan said we will probably see him in the ring wrestling regular matches at some point to. Along with these cinematic matches. Awww it's time to go to your safe space Ugh

The commentary (JBL) telling everyone it was a WWF-WCW thing when that wasn’t the storyline is what put a damper on it. It was still fun as hell, though. That’s the kind of thing I watch Mania for, especially seeing nWo and dX coming out in full regalia. I also loved when HBK, Austin and Foley came back to take out the League of Nations in similar fashion. And Sting had said that before, too on non-WWE media. I’m sure it was while he was contracted though since he’s been contracted since the match, so I’m not sure what else we have to go by than his word.

I disagree with your opinion but thought both matches had their positives.

Fair enough...I admit that it was cool seeing a DX vs. NWO standoff like that. I just didn't think that it needed to be in a Sting/HHH match, personally. Overall, I hated that match, but I understand why some people liked it.

. . . they had a 15 minute match. It was botched Its still a 15 min match. May not been perfect and a LOT of matches in history is botched and not perfect.

Sting vs HHH was a fun match in my opinion. Should HHH have been the winner? Nah but it's been years now no sense dwelling.
