And now you can add AEW to finish that holy trinity For what? Lol. I want Penta pushed as much as you do, but the end of the match proved Cody won via fluke and this isn't over Penta's probably going to destroy him if he's out here kicking out of Cody's finishers. Last time Penta lost by the skin of his teeth, to Fenix, he came back and killed Fenix. Have a feeling he's gonna do the same to Cody. With how AEW has turned acts around, makes you care about wrestlers, and can present someone like a legit star in such short order, there's no way Penta will just be written out. If it wasn't for that ankle injury I have a feeling he would have been pushed harder too, that was unfortunate timing, but the fact theyre doing so right when he's back is a good sign. Giving him Alex as a way around promos even more so. Dude's a star, he has a star look, one of the coolest presences in all of wrestling, I hope he gets his due in AEW this year. Him and his brother have been in AEW for almost 3 years and haven't achieved anything at the time I am writing this. Like there is no reason they shouldn't have been the first tag champs. Heck they should have been champs at least once by now. They're just guys who have good to great matches which is fine if you want to establish them as good hands, but penta is beyond such a position so I don't know what's the hold up, other than the minor injury he suffered And before the pandemic he was being put in death triangle which albeit we don't know what that would have led to but looking at his track record in groups so far it hasn't helped him. And that seems to be penta's story so far. He gets a little bit of crumbs then eats a loss and then is put in a group that fizzles out like kingston's family thing or in the triangle that hasn't done anything of consequences. And when he isn't aligned with anyone he just treads water in a circle. And so what if he kicks out of the cross rhodes? Everybody does lol, except for maybe that dork peter avalon but even then I am not sure. This last show it looked like they were going to let penta off the leash. He dressed good, he talked bad ass if you could understand him and he even went personal with the daughter thing. It was perfect. But reading these spoilers with him taking a loss so soon after gaining this new attitude it sure is a "oh you lost again penta. Cero miedo more like just plain cero." And all just to be in another stable war with cody's stable/not stable. I don't know if this will help elevate penta or if it's just some detour way for cody to turn heel this remains to be seen. But penta is a guy that years ago was seen as a big deal and future big star and should already be at the top, so I don't know what aew is waiting for. Hopefully he goes somewhere this year

Cage’s face(?) turn is intriguing. He never fit Team Taz, its for the best for him to go solo as a face. Cage is much better as an ass kicking face than a heel, anyway.

Business as usual for penta. Too bad I was excited that they were going to let him break out as a singles star Some of us have been deeply wounded by WWE/TNA booking and it shows. It’s happening over and over again with Fenix and Penta. At what point do we simply say “Maybe AEW just doesn’t know what to do with them”?

Yes, the leaker didnt mention anything about the pretaped backstage segments. This would probably be a good time to get some official words from Christian. I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce a “we’ll hear from Christian” segment in the next few days, with it just being a pretape of him explaining why he wants to fight Omega.

A lot to unpack here.
Cody could lose every match this year and it wouldn’t be enough for me. I see talks of Cody losing matches, but a quick look at Cagematch shows his last losses were the ladder match at Revolution and tag matches where he didn’t take the pin. The last time he was actually pinned was against Darby back at Full Gear. Before that, his loss to Brodie Lee. His last loss before Brodie? April 1, 2020 in a tag match.
Even then, what do we see from Cody? The Wrestlemania entrance, the massive pyro, the full team backing him up. He’s the kind of guy who feels like he could brush off every loss. He got to face Shaw, he was placed in the Ladder match, he’s the guy who gets into these big feuds. He pulls focus, and even his most ardent supporters have to admit his losses are rare and his entrances are massive. Which, did he need the big entrance for a simple squash on this last Dynamite?
Penta needed this win. Penta could have taken the win. I know people say “he probably got cocky, he kicked out of Cross Rhodes”, but a loss is still a loss. Maybe it’ll look better on television, but it reads that Penta couldn’t get the win after coming across as LUCHA UNDERGROUND PENTAGON JR that people have been desperate for since Dynamite aired. I see this going the same way the Darby feud went: lose to me two-three times before you get your win and it’s all good. Maybe I’m wrong. Idk.
QT is a channel changer and I’m really not interested in seeing his breakout story. He had his moment in the sun with Allie and boy did that go well.
Kenny is another channel changer and I wish they didn’t take a month to tell the next chapter of his story with The Bucks. Long term storytelling is fine but you don’t put the Too Sweet on a shirt to sell, do a photo shoot with said shirt, then go “man idk if we agree with Kenny”. You were fine with Kenny stealing the belt, and you were fine with the Good Brothers attacking everyone. And if Don’s the one thing stopping you, that was a plot point like two months ago that was abandoned.
If Sting could cut a promo without being interrupted boy would that be great.
I know I’m rambling and complaining, but I’ve been seeing this happen for months and it’s just a chore to deal with now.

Fenix has been treated fairly well this year, he is already an uppercarder imo, cant say the same for Penta but the feud with the Nightmare Family just started. It will probably be Cody, Dustin and Shotty vs Death Triangle.

Hopefully he goes somewhere this year While I agree that Penta/Fenix could have been the first tag champs over SCU (I wasn't sure if splitting time with AAA got in the way of that or not) there have been a few things that have hurt Lucha Bros over the course of the last 2 years for Dynamite, mainly the Pandemic and Injuries, both of which have kept Penta, Fenix, or both on a start and stop path for onths at a time. Also I think they'd done a better job with protecting Crossroads lately, so Penta kicking out of it meant a little more. I want to see how the match goes as well, but if you're gonna start a feud, Cody fluking a win on Penta makes a ton ore sense if say, Penta gets the second and then decisive rubber win which takes Cody out, maybe in a stipulated match. That's the formula they used with OC and Jericho and it worked. I dont know if that will be the exact same direction, but it looks like as you said they're finally seeing how Penta can work, the question will be if they're gonna capitalize on it, as they clearly are starting to push Fenix more and more as well.

So who won the light out Match?baker? I believe the spoiler reporter left out the result intentionally as they didn't want to spoil who won. Though the "Britt was nearly unrecognizable at the end of the match" could imply we might see some color.

Man, a Darby/Cage team would be dope. I'm just imagining all the ways Cage could use Darby as a weapon, and Darby is crazy enough to do it.
Penta needed that win, but it at least fits his character. He's possibly the best Luchadore in the world but his arrogance is his downfall. I hope that character arc is that he finds focus and becomes a terrifying nightmare.
Britt is so good as a heel that I'm actively invested in Thunder Rosa smashing her into a bloody pulp. I hope that's what we get. If Shida is 1A of the Women's division, then Thunder Rosa is the 1B. I could easily see her becoming AEW's version of Asuka. Well, NXT Asuka.
Yeah, it's clear that Kenny is just keeping the belt warm for Hangman and we all know that's where it's going, but I enjoy that title reigns last a little while in AEW. Long as Kenny continues to put on banger matches and entertains me, I'm fine with being a passenger on the journey. Even if they really need to learn better heat spots than "Good brothers for the intervention". They get a bigger pass because I'm fairly certain they want Hangman winning the title in front of a real crowd.

Dang, MJF’s group is so uninteresting to me. I’m can’t wait for Wardlow’s face turn. His whole run with IC didn’t make much sense or accomplish anything. His plan to form the new group while fooling us also doesn’t really make sense. I wish he’d not remind me he’ll be around for 25 years. I’m not looking forward to it. The whole point of him in IC was he wanted to show he was better than Chris. If his group turns on Chris, he has even more people under his thumb, if they don't, like they didn't, he has a backup plan. MJF's all about control and thinking steps ahead. IC didn't come off looking like chumps, but MJF came out looking like a mastermind, and in every Jericho tag match, Jericho was the one taking a lot of the heat, and in the end taking the pins, so it was very deliberate. MJF's probably one of the biggest prospects of wrestling. Him staying fresh in those potential 25 years will be key though, that's something he SHOULD take from Jericho. And let's say he would still have his group beat the hell out of the IC if they attacked Jericho, he's fractured them. Jericho's wondering if he can trust the IC enough to get back at MJF, members of the IC wondering what they just did and if all can be trusted, and MJF and Pinnacle laughing about it. He eliminates a big obstacle, maybe for a long time.

Aw man, I knew I shouldn't have hyped myself up for Penta vs Cody. Penta should've won and broke his arm but instead we have Cody win and then the usual after match brawl? That is a massive bummer.
Penta finally shows up to be this singles star and loses immediately to Cody. That's just lame as f*** imo
