I agree with the OP to a certain extent in that I think they have a habit of not delivering when they book things specifically as Deathmatches. If I want to watch a Deathmatch, I will go and watch the myriad of Deathmatch promotions who I know will be able to deliver that kind of match again and again. By AEW's very nature, and by the mainstream audience they want to attract, they can't go to the lengths the likes of Nick Gage, Alex Colon, Jun Kasai etc go to because to be perfectly frank, they'd be pulled from air. This leaves them in a situation where their Deathmatches either become across as diluted or in the case of the Omega vs Mox matches, overly convoluted to try and cover the cracks.
Having said that, I do think they've done well in the few traditional gimmick matches they've done and also in the matches that have naturally turned into bloody brawls. Cody vs Dustin is the perfect example of this, it's probably in my top three AEW matches ever and it came across as far more intense and brutal than anything they've put the 'Deathmatch' banner over simply through old school techniques.
I do think there's a room for bloody and violent matches in AEW, but looking towards FMW, CZW etc for inspiration isn't the answer.

Yes, ultimately this comes down to all of us making a commitment to worry about ourselves and our own behaviors/how we present ourselves, first and foremost, and to allow the system to work here when we’ve got cases of bad faith posters. Again, I’ve certainly recognized an unfortunate tick up around here with people coming into the AEW section to complain about things; I went so far as to express outright disappointment with the way many failed to comport themselves in the Revolution live thread, where some seemed to make it their mission to turn what was a strong, fun show into an exercise in misery for others. But if/when such things happen, have some faith in the mods to handle things. Don’t get riled up, don’t twist yourself into a pretzel, just be straightforward and honest, and save any snark or passive-aggressiveness for some other place and time. Idk why but this all started back when folks let people troll in the TNA section 5-6 years ago, and I hope mods dont let the AEW section turn into that.

As I stated before, while I lurked on this section I had noticed that it was a fairly positive place to be compared to the WWE section. I think the only really negative thing that was posted was people complaining about the women’s division, which was a valid complaint that’s now slowly getting better. And of course the Matt Hardy accident which was also a deserved black mark. But on the whole, this section was always a positive place to be. And even people who complained weren’t too bad. I think a lot of people overreacted to the explosion botch. And a lot of people came out of the woodwork to complain about everything.
