Hikaru Shida comes off legit just... I dunno, adorable? I hate using that term because she's a grown woman and an athlete, but it's the first one that came to mind. Thunder Rosa is such an interesting character. She's not booked as supernatural the way the Undertaker is or whatever, but there's a mean streak and an intensity to her that transcends the average pro-wrestling shtick. Unhinged, a little bit not there. I bring up character work, because obviously anyone with eyes can see the in-ring work is great. Maybe Sting can do a mixed tag with her, next :-P In Japan Shida was always pretty (at least visibly) supportive of others, always high fiving rookies and seconding during their matches when she didn’t really need to. I obviously don’t know but I think she’s just as much a fan of wrestling as she is a wrestler. I think that's part of it, a strong love of wrestling, but I wonder if some of it is that she's been on the other side of it. When Emi Sakura left Ice Ribbon, didn't Shida take over some of the training duties? I think between that, and Shida playing a key part in a lot of the production on the Japanese side of the tournament, it makes sense that Shida would be keenly interested in the development of the women. If nothing else, obviously, she's champion and has had some important matches in both of their careers, as well as having been wrestling about as long as the two of them combined. I think she's kind of a proud mama to the division on that front.

Just watched it.
Honestly, I think this might be AEW's strongest match to date.

Checked out some of the Youtube highlight reels and looks awesome.
Youtube commenters repeatedly referring to this as a divas match... FML. Also, they clearly never seen joshi hardcore matches. Someone pointed out that finally there is women wrestling and not hair pulling and I honestly think they missed 100% of the Women's Revolution and all what followed.

Yeah, thankfully, things have been well past the hair pulling stage of women's wrestling for quite a while. Like, I am sure there are some indies women who are still that basic, but I don't think any mainstream companies have featured women who kept it that simple outside of maybe valets in like a decade.

Hell of a bloody main event. Baker and Rosa are certified future legends after that performance.

Yeah, that was pretty nuts.
Pretty much sold the whole feud in general with what they were willing to do with each other here.
I don't know if I'd call it the best AEW match ever but it's up there in a rapidly growing list of great matches the company has done.

It’s great to see Britt baker especially but also thunder Rosa who we know can go at a high level step it up. Hopefully this is the point that the AEW women's division can kick on from because at times it’s been a bit haphazard. Britt baker has had huge potential since she started and thankfully for someone who seems to get this business she showing how good she is.

loved the match, I'd be shocked at myself if it doesn't end up being one of my favourite matches of the year
this give me the same feeling Bayley/Sasha did afterwards, just all on a high about what I'd seen, knowing I'll need to watch it again

Best match I've seen from AEW maybe since everything shut down last year. Completely tore the house down. This is how you feature women. Give two insanely talented ones a huge spot on the show and let them go. Britt was phenomenal, but Thunder Rosa has truly impressed the shit out of me since she debuted on here. Never heard of her beforehand, and she's been a consistent bright spot in the women's division. Both of these women are stars and they stepped it up a notch or 12 here. Easy MOTY contender, maybe favorite rn for me.

Normally, I don't give a f*** about spoilers, but tonight I avoided spoilers for this match. Congrats to both ladies. That was intense, and Britt Baker proved she's ready for the title. Britt's bloody face is AEW's Bloody Becky or Stone Cold's crimson mask against Bret Hart.

It was an excellent match, up there with Bayley/Sasha for me in terms of some of the best women's wrestling in the US. I hope they can continue the momentum with some of the other women in the division. I think knowing now that Thunder's under contract with the NWA still, it may be time for Britt to win the belt from Shida and let some of the babyface women chase for a bit. Ride the momentum while it's here.

Just a great way to cap off their feud.

The only thing I didn't enjoy was the thumbtack spot or rather spots. I always hate when anyone's bare flesh gets punctured by tacks much less when it happens twice.

Who would have thought about a couple of years ago that Britt Baker would be in a legit Match of the Year contender, and it would be 1 on 1?
Damn, that was a banger, and both women deserve a couple of weeks off from matches.
