Christian being a bad reveal is very subjective considering a lot of positive feedback has generated around him being in the company, and the people upset were a vocal minority pissed it wasn't John Cena or something. Also the ring explosion was still a single moment in a 4 hour PPV, it was dumb but still, how many botches and moments have happened in other companies and they've been fine? AEW can't expect to be perfect or everyone's just gonna stop watching them, that seems ridiculous. Plus the WWE have done things that are even stupider over the last couple of weeks and there hasn't been the same backlash; hell the last man standing match at the Royal Rumble was completely botched and the finish was an absolute joke and there wasn't any where near the doom and gloom posting. Because the bloom is already off the rose for many fans when it comes to WWE.

Im happy for Rosa and Britt gaining that much viewers and demo. They really should stop advertising Sting interviews seems that fans are tired of it, its too early to call the Pinnacle a bust but does anyone think the rating is due to Spears, he is the Thatcher of AEW. Also its not surprising no one cares about the Nightmare Family drama. Spears stuck out like a sore thumb during that segment. He just doesn’t fit. It was like watching the Evolution promos with Jindrak.

For the record, the last time AEW ran after Daylight Savings was last March which was THAT NIGHT. Their last normal show. So a lot was going on. But despite that, they had this pattern from the Observer: "The story of the night was AEW having a strong second hour. It was a change from the usual pattern of the first segment being the highest and falling from there. In this case, they fell the entire first hour, and then grew greatly in the second hour, peaking with the main event." So that could have partly been news but also a ton of people tuning in at 9 PM which matches what happened with RAW this past week. So to sum it up: The Women are in fact a draw, and whoever said that here or anywhere as a reason for the low rating was full of it. That was Meltzer’s quote on last year’s show.

I dont know if you can pin it on one guy, Spears was barely there for that, it was a faction promo I wouldnt see Spears as one dude and then just turn it off, but who knows, lets see if it's a trend, he wrestles next week with FTR vs Varsity Blondes/Dante Martin. Not sure if that doing a low number could be blamed on Spears though either it's a pretty lower card match aside from FTR. Nice to see AEW getting young viewers. I just hope these viewers also show they really need to push Penta, Elite are Elite as usual, and Baker/Rosa brought A LOT of the crowd back, very nice to see the girls can in fact draw as I thought.

Also its not surprising no one cares about the Nightmare Family drama. Just going based upon my own viewing habits, I think that that drop may be attributable to there being a squash match lead-in. I actually really like Jade quite a bit, but I am inclined to flip over to a basketball game or something when there's a squash going on unless it's one of my absolute favorites or someone I haven't seen before. I've been so conditioned by WWE for the last two decades that it's hard to break the habit, I guess.

For the Fenix quarter, I believe it had two commerical breaks which might have brought the number even further down. It probably would've lost some viewers anyway, but that probably accelerated it.
Meltzer also noted this week that DVR viewership has been up recently as well.

It's the death slot for a reason, and putting on a match that was both predictable and low in story is a good recipe for losing viewers.

“Regarding DVR viewers, for the period from 2/17 to 3/10 AEW’s has increased its DVR viewership to 34 percent above the initial number while NXT has fallen to 25 percent. Previously both were almost identical at 31 and 30 percent”
34% of 750k is 255K so the overall viewership was 1,005m.

So let's review.
Overall 18-49 viewership on all TV down 67% that night.
AEW finished #6 in the main demo, #3 in the M 18-49. That's out of 150 shows on cable.
The sports show with the youngest skewed audience for the week.
A women's main event that brought back a huge chunk of the audience, from another wrestling show, one of the largest returns in the history of the show. A match with a lot of acclaim and a lot of social media talk.
34% of the audience watches it streaming, which is what younger people do today, and that would push the audience over one million.
I get the need for doom and gloom when first seeing the rating, but networks look over a year and not one day. TNT is looking at a show with a loyal audience, that still draws even when everything is down, and is only being beat in Males 18-49 by their other partner in the NBA.

If an accurate estimation (and I see no reason why not), this is great news for them.

Baker versus Rosa was such a draw, NXT got it's worst rating in it's entire run on NXT on USA during the segment going against them. A real testament to the star power of Baker and Rosa.

Can't help but wonder if that's a sign that the most persuadable-to-AEW section of NXT fans is fans of women's wrestling...

It’s not doom worthy. But it is not good at all. AEW was pulling a .45 in the demo this winter. They’ve lost a lot of that audience, mostly female. And the loss of women viewership isn’t new to this week, it’s been a steady decline for weeks. They need to jolt some life into the product. so what companies are gonna have their ups and downs, just look at WWE their ratings have been falling for years now yet they're still around AEW was never gonna constantly draw .45 ratings every single week it was just not going to happen. it was also a taped show where the results leaked. hell I almost didn't watch it cause I was choosing the Rangers and the other wrestling show over AEW because I knew the results but then the Ranger game was a blow out.....anyway it seems like AEW and TNT are happy as long as they pull in at least 500,000 viewers which they have been doing and are still doing and if they continue to do that they'll be fine

It's one show.
And it sounds like a violent bout between women in the main event was a draw.
