I remember about five years ago, Blade Runner was re-released in theaters and I would say that I was a bit underwhelmed by it. I heard from so many people that it was a great film, but I guess I was expecting a bit much. I think I might give it another watch sometime soon to see if it will grow on me. I am usually someone who is willing to give anything a go, as well as watch something multiple times. Which version was it you saw? There are 5 cuts of Blade Runner. I prefer "The final Cut". But over the years I have grown to love every version in some way. I think it was the standard theatrical cut. Now that you mention it, which is the ultimate cut to watch? I might check out the other four cuts.

Benjamin Button: Bloated, overly sentimental Forrest Gump Forrest Gumo is IMO the very definition of overly sentimental.

The Final Cut is the best of the offically released versions. There is a fan edit,I will have to look up the name, that is the best I have seen. But of course it is just a fan edit. The version you saw,did it have Ford doing narration thru out the film? If so that is the theatrical cut. This article explains the differences between each cut

Then read the book a few months later and realized that the film could have been so much better. Re-watched Forest Gump a few years back and hated it. Part of that might be I don't care for Tom Hanks in dramas most of the time. For me he peaked with Bosum Buddies and Bacholer Party.

Not seen Return of the King, but I've seen both Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers multiple times and each time I've wanted to fall asleep, except for the times I actually did. Very impressive productions and all but they're basically movies where nothing ever actually happens.

I'm almost the reverse of that. I can easily watch the first two, extended editions, back-to-back. For Return of the King I have to psyche myself up to watch even by itself... so I just don't bother.

During both films I fell asleep somewhere in the middle. When I woke up I didn't feel like I missed anything whatsoever. I sat out the third one.

Shutter Island. Another Scorsese/Di Caprio collaboration, all noir ish mystery and suspense, and ten years after it came out I finally got to see it...and it fell flat. Shutter Island? Shitty Island, more like.
Scarface was another; I get that it was all about 80s excess, but it was just overblown, overlong and overrated.

Superbad was trumpeted to me as a comedy that would be remembered as this era defining legend.
I excitedly decided to watch it but quickly realized it was total asscheeks and absolutely nobody in the movie was anything close to likable

Not a movie, but 'Dexter' was supposed to be some great show that I just found dumb and almost goofy.
After him getting barely away with it for the millionth time I checked out. Maybe it gets better, I dunno.

I went to see RoTK in the theater, and I swear to god, there was some little girl in the back who, whenever anyone came on the screen, went: 'Daddy, is that Frodo'? I mean, this went on for about two hours until he got up and left with her. But then he came back after about 30 minutes and she started asking about Frodo again.

Fargo. Funny in parts (I'm not sure if it was intentional) but otherwise just pretty average.

The Hangover
It was just another blackout drunk comedy for me. Didn't even bother with the sequels.
