During tonight's show, AEW announced they will be holding a non televised event at Daily's on April 9th.
Tickets will be going on sale soon. Kinda cool that they are doing this

These seem like good things to try and the best opportunity to do it with them still being located in one place.
Get the format on how you do it down with some practice before potentially doing a proper touring schedule.

Sounds like fun, I guess none of these matches will count towards rankings or anything but it'll be a fun thing for fans
I'm curious how many house shows they'd actually do when things return to normal.

I know Cody said in the past they would never piggyback off of Wrestlemania weekend like others do but Tony must have overrruled him. It makes far too much sense to run a show when then there's going to be so many extra fans in Florida that weekend.

There is a bit of a difference between a show in Tampa and Jacksonville in terms of distance. I'd imagine this is more a make-good/payday for people who aren't in the paycheck tiers to get a mania weekeend payoff that Tony doesn't want them to risk getting exposed to Covid doing in Tampa. Or scouting some of the wrestlers who aren't making the trip to daily's normally, but will be in the area for mania.

Having a show three hours away in the same place they've had matches for more then a year is "piggybacking"? I mean, you're right, might as well have a house show because people might be around, but being the same city for the weekend is what Cody meant, not what this is.

It makes far too much sense to run a show when then there's going to be so many extra fans in Florida that weekend. Those comments were also made in the pre-pandemic era, where they could opt to run in a completely different state from Mania, and distance themselves from WWE in their formative days. Now, they are tied to Florida indefinitely, and WrestleMania is happening a few hours away no matter what happens. They may as well offer a show to get some fans that are coming down just for the two nights of Mania on the eve of Mania Night 1.
