Change my mind.
Shida is the sportsman competitor babyface.
Thunder Rosa is the babyface with a mean streak.
.. but Conte reminds me a bit of NXT-days Bayley, in that she's just naturally likable.

I love Tay, but I think Riho and Kris Statlander are more babyface "likeable". But Tay is certainly a top tier babyface.

Riho I'll give you, but Statlander seems a little too "weird" to be the classic babyface, to me. If nothing else, Conte fills the role that I think maybe they'd earmarked for Baker as the "pretty blond babyface", until we all figured out that Baker is way more awesome as a heel.

Conti is very much relatable yet kicks ass,she is very emotional and approachable in the show(She is always seem hugging/smiling/crying from emotion or pain). She gives sort of that stereotypal "Brazilians are open and friendky" which helps a lot with being a white meat babyface

She's one of them, but I feel liek Riho is also up there
And if they ever get Mei Suruga over here, and I imagine they will, she is REALLY gonna be up there too

Conti’s loose association with Dark Order certainly helps. -1 running with her during the entrance on Elevation was wonderful.

Like she plays the petulant, arrogant, brat so well while also having a surface level peppy babyface that I just cannot see her as anything other than it.

Small sidebar since we're discussing Conti, I really like that in AEW losing to someone on the card multiple times does not always mean the death of you. I spoke of this in the "Does AEW shift away from conventional tropes?" thread but the likes of Darby Allin being TNT Champion after losing to Cody Rhodes Twice, and Tay Conti being number one in the women's rankings after losing to Nyla twice, and then beating Nyla, shows legitimate growth in these wrestlers and shows if you grind those losses can not only be avenged but can be something you can work around in your career.

They really go out of their way to show growth and development of in-ring skill as a thing, similar to the Young Lions. Yeah, Cody beat Darby twice, but Darby also gave Cody all he could handle. They played up how Shida had never beaten Ryo, and made it mean more when she did. Just a nice call nod to kayfabe, or shoot combat sports, or whatever. The only matches that matter are the ones you just had or the ones that are next.

The only matches that matter are the ones you just had or the ones that are next. It's stuff they do for other wrestlers too, like Cassidy beating Jericho twice after losing once, his losses against other certain big stars being protected, Abadon's only losses in her AEW career being to Shida, things that can be planted for later. It's also why I believe Penta losing to Cody wasn't a big deal even if they don't have a follow up feud, Penta can mess around and get to number one if he goes on a run right now. AEW's just proven that the ranking system helps you out in the immediate, a loss from a month ago won't sting if you've won a Dynamite match and some DARK/Elevation stuff in between, it's much easier and way more convincing to build stars up in the company, and Tay Conti is a great example after hard fought losses to Deeb and Rose. She looks super legit for having carried her weight in those losses and in getting her shine now killing girls on Elevation/DARK to fight up the rankings and getting the big one vs Nyla on Dynamite. Not to ramble on more and make the post longer but something else that helps wrestlers rankings is when enhancement wrestlers start to win too. Conti beat Ashley Vox, whose win then wasn't as impressive as she was winless. Then the following week, Vox herself got a very convincing win vs Gracia, which probably helped Tay get her number one rank before even fighting Nyla. It's just little things like that I just like.

I love Tay, but Riho fits the bill more for "white meat". It's hard to really see a tough judoka in that way.

I like her a lot more than when she was crazy “hey look at my belt” girl who’d scream “are you crazy?!” During her matches

Not really that much to do with the topic but this time last year, I was very much annoyed by some of the stuff either Tay was doing or being booked to do or whatever that may be at the PC or in NXT (that whole thing where she was “released” but wasn’t? So hokey, man). It just made me sour on her.
Now almost a year later from her WWE release, if you told me that AEW would potentially be booking Tay Conti vs. Hiraru Shida, I’d be like “Yeah, I’m pretty ready for that”. Which just seems crazy.

You could have stopped at the fifth word in the subject header and had me on board. I've been a big fan since her early NXT days. She's got nowhere to go but up!

I mean hanging out with -1 is going to get her over huge as a face. Plus the fact her best friend is injured for 6 months or whatever.
She really seems to have it all to become a huge star for AEW. I’d be shocked if she hasn’t had a title shot on PPV within the next year. Just put the title on Baker and have everyone chase.

She has a bit of a edge in the ring. Yeah, she has a pretty girl look but those Judo throws and strikes look like they hurt.

Agreed, this is my main issue with Tay she's not nearly as likable as those you've named IMHO. She doesn't connect with me on an emotional level how Red Velvet, Kris, or Riho do. But, yeah, she is a strong babyface.

Like badass scary, so her "innocent" likeability is lower then Riho. Id still say she is top 5 babyface likeable. I poped hard when she won, so she is very easy to root for.

I think arguments who is more likable is kinda silly, that just seems entirely subjective. Tay is likable. Riho is likable. Whoever else is named here can be called likable. I was wondering where Tay has been since Anna Jay has been out so I was pretty happy to see her again last night. The Dark Order are still her associates. Maybe she can appear on BTE with them. I think if there was time, Tay interacting with Maki would have been fun.

That sort of uber babyface thing. I like Tay more than Riho, I just think Riho is more lawful good and Tay is more Neutral to Chaotic Good. Also, listen, we gotta talk about something. It's a positive conversation, and I like those. It's so dark on the internet, likeability scores feels nice. I too would have enjoyed Maki and Tay trying to talk, and not understanding what the other is saying.
