Not really that much to do with the topic but this time last year, I was very much annoyed by some of the stuff either Tay was doing or being booked to do or whatever that may be at the PC or in NXT (that whole thing where she was “released” but wasn’t? So hokey, man). It just made me sour on her. Now almost a year later from her WWE release, if you told me that AEW would potentially be booking Tay Conti vs. Hiraru Shida, I’d be like “Yeah, I’m pretty ready for that”. Which just seems crazy. Yeah also Well there was that April fools joke with the pregnancy test that pissed a lot of people off. the thing on the house shows where she was acting like a prisoner trying to be released due rub me the wrong way too.

Tay for world champion. She’s fantastic. Don’t really see her in that white-meat babyface role though, she’s more of an aggressive, badass face.

As others have said, Tay has too much of an edge to be a true white-meat babyface. She's friendly and likable but can **** you up and is very much aware of the fact that she can **** you up.

I think arguments who is more likable is kinda silly, that just seems entirely subjective. Tay is likable. Riho is likable. Whoever else is named here can be called likable. I was wondering where Tay has been since Anna Jay has been out so I was pretty happy to see her again last night. The Dark Order are still her associates. Maybe she can appear on BTE with them. I think if there was time, Tay interacting with Maki would have been fun. It is subjective. I think the discussion is of that innocent type likeability that a Bailey or a Kylie Rae had. That sort of uber babyface thing. I like Tay more than Riho, I just think Riho is more lawful good and Tay is more Neutral to Chaotic Good. Also, listen, we gotta talk about something. It's a positive conversation, and I like those. It's so dark on the internet, likeability scores feels nice. I too would have enjoyed Maki and Tay trying to talk, and not understanding what the other is saying. Yeah, I mean, in all honesty I was more or less wanting a discussion about what makes a babyface a white meat babyface in that same vein as Steamboat, Morton, etc. while also fanboying a bit over Conte a bit. I would be the first to admit to anyone that I felt like the women's division was floundering and needed a shot in the arm (the pandemic didn't help), but they're pivoting and making new stars with what they've got. Tay is just one that sticks out the most to me.

I'm glad they're starting to use Tay more. I was legit shocked when WWE released her as she seemed to have all the qualities they want for the new generation of female workers. May have just been a case of just being too crowded

I mean I never associated it as such,Cena spent more than half of his career as an whitemeat babyface that was the absolute best,so was Hogan,so is Drew.

If a white meat babyface is defined as "they're a face because they're a good, kind person who is generally happy," then she would fit. Her first angle was playing an ingenue being taken advantage of by a toxic friend - that's pretty firmly putting her in the "innocent and good-hearted" camp, and she hasn't really strayed from that so much as made clear that she is not someone to trifle with.
She does have a very...particular personality in the ring that's hard to sum up 100%. She's got the innocence thing - see her turning down the offer of a chair during a match when Anna was a heel - but she also shows a sort of...hair trigger? I'm thinking of this amazing moment in her first match with Vertvixen where, after a nearfall, it's like she's calming herself down and reassuring herself that everything is fine and she doesn't need to lose her cool over a kickout. She also had a related moment in the Ashley Vox match where it was like a switch was flipped and she looked ready to go full Ken Shamrock ragebeast on Vox.
It's moments like those that are really nuanced and hint at something a little dark - a short temper, or a tamped-down desire to just unleash violence on opponents. I don't think they take her too far off the path of being an unambiguous hero with a kind heart, although they are qualities that I expect her to play up if she were to turn heel.

WWE basically flushed millions down the toilet letting her go because she's going to break into a bigger star than anyone they have on that roster. She's a Trish Stratus waiting to happen.

WWE Tay Conti: Yeah, Dave Meltzer touched on that after this match, talking about how if he was Vince, he'd be furious he spends millions upon millions of dollars on the performance center, only to have one of their cut talents go elsewhere and improve tenfold and have far better matches. Honestly, WWE have a habit of taking diamonds and trying to turn them into coal.

I think she definitely lost me for a while with her ill thought out pregnancy April Fool's last year, but she's grown on me since joining AEW. I'm still wondering why her joining the Dark Order never actually went anywhere though.

Negative One comes out with her on DARK, Dark Order showed support for her on Dynamite this week.

The Dark Order angle was built around Conti being torn between her friendship with Anna and the group's predatory nature. The latter part isn't a thing anymore, so it makes more sense that she is just a friend of them like Hangman is.

I guess it's not like there isn't precedence, like how Brandon Cutler is friend to the Young Bucks and will team with them, but has never been an Elite member. I think they've also said that Colton Gunn isn't a Nightmare Family member, even though Austin and Billy Gunn are, but that's me going by memory of something said off-hand on Dark that may not be correct or still true.
