Fargo, The Dark Knight, Black Panther, Guardians 1 and 2, Winter Soldier, Spotlight, Spider-Verse, Thor Ragnarok and Midsommar, off the top of my head.
Also Coco, Wonder Woman 1, all the John Wick films.
Fury Road actually surprised me. I had no idea what to expect going off the trailer. Could have been the coolest or the most godawful thing ever, for all I knew, but it didn’t look boring.

Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. I looked forward to the MCU movies, but I was only super-hyped for three of them; Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame. While Age of Ultron was a massive disappointment, Infinity War and Endgame as a duology delivered and then some. Absolutely loved both movies and they were a great culmination to a decade's worth of storytelling and buildup.
The Dark Knight. After Batman Begins, I was really anxious for the sequel. The Dark Knight delivered and joined my ranks of Empire Strikes Back and Godfather Part II as sequels that are even better than their predecessors.
A lot of movies I really enjoyed I usually end up seeing with muted expectations that are exceeded. Or they didn't have much build to them (or I ignored it) and got something I loved.

Green Room-Heard the great reviews. Bought the Blu Ray the day it came out. Then didn't watch it until a lazy weekend last fall. Amazing film.
Once upon a time in Hollywood-Heard all the great reviews. Bought it the day it hit Blu ray and ended up watching it the same lazy weekend as Green Room.

I know it isn't everyone's favorite Captain America movie ,but Civil War. It's my favorite Cap movie! It's probably in my top 3 MCU movies. Definitely top 5. Speaaaaaaaaaaking of: The MCU for me! I had no desire to bother with any of them but I had a friend show me Guardians Vol. 1 and that sweet rabbit stole my heart away. Another friend heard about my viewing this and insisted I watch Guardians Vol. 2, which didn't take much cajoling by then. After I enjoyed that, she was like "... now how about Thor: Ragnarok?" And that, my friends, was all she wound up writing. In the same vein: The Harry Potter movies. I literally *just* watched these for the first time a few weeks ago (felt similarly to how I did with the MCU) and am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed all of it. Now I'm reading the books and having a blast. I'm, like, 9,000 years behind everyone else, but it's kinda neat because I've been able to move at my own pace and not have to wait for things to come out. And a lot of my friends who are fans are amused by my new-found enthusiasm haha

I’m not really a comic book person I do like the movies but haven’t seen every Marvel movie up to that point but the hype for Infinity War was so big that I had to see it and it blew me away. One of the best endings to a film I’ve ever seen. Now I’ve seen every Marvel movie from the Marvel Universe.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" reminded me how it felt when I first saw "Star Wars".
"Star Wars", for that matter.
"Stalag 17", heard it was a classic for years but I only saw it because it 'influenced' the TV show Hogan's Heroes... it's one of the greatest movies I've seen.
"Close Encounters Of The Third Kind", especially since as a kid is into sci-fi.

Saving Private Ryan. I didn't see it until like 2004 or 5 after my friends and I got super into playing Medal of Honor.
