I know I might be reaching on this, but does Get Him to the Greek count? I don't know how that actually did, but it was at least a decent movie about a rock star imo.

Bill and Ted movies are successful, and those movies are about a fictional band.

Pitch Perfect spawned two sequels and all three did well.

That Thing You Do! did pretty decent (made 5 times its budget) Also was thinking School Of Rock as well.

8 Mile may have been semi-biographical about Eminem, but it was a big critical and commercial success. It even won an Oscar.

Did Rock Star also flop? It seems like it would have. I dunno, I saw it in theatres and enjoyed it. Also it was Jennifer Aniston at pretty close to the height of her fame. I think it suffered because word got out the concert stuff, I believe filmed at a Megadeth concert did not go over well with that crowd.

Pitch Perfect spawned two sequels and all three did well. Surprisingly liked part 1 (looking at Anna Kendrick for a couple hours didn't hurt). Never got around to 2 and 3. Were they any good?
