Just watched the premiere. Early opinion's... Not great. It feels like Stabler and some of the music cues are the only real connections to Law & Order and more like it just really, really wants to be NCIS. Found my interest dropping fast and hard, though maybe after a bit it'll find its footing. Still, I really just found the pilot mostly very boring, to the point that while I did finish it I was considering turning it off like halfway through it. Not surprising given it was kind of falling in between NCIS and Criminal Intent in what it was reminding me of and I find both ungodly boring.
It doesn't really help that I thought part one of the story on SVU was actually pretty good? Has some bits you can certainly make fun of - like that they never seemed to realize how badly it comes off every time they do the, "Person narrowly survives, gives a poignant speech in their hospital bed, OH NO THEY SUDDENLY DIED," cliche - but think it does a fine job of tying up some loose ends on continuity and telling its story while not stepping into the worst excesses of the whole It's Personal thing that the show way too often falls into and the awful soap opera elements that largely dominate modern SVU.
I dunno. Maybe the show will come into its own but so far it kind of seems like the latest in a long line of Law & Order spinoffs that die immediately.
