How the hell can they just gloss over the fued that made him? Bret The Hitman Hart. And why wasn't he interviewed? It wasn’t all about him so he’d give it a 4/10. 😉 Don't worry, the Piper bio makes up for lack of Bret.

I liked that Piper one. I like they didnt shy away from his demons, had lots of his family involved and some great clips/stories.
Another great documentary

It shocked me that they referred to Kane’s pre-WWE years as Unabomb! I realize we’re living in different times now, but WWE has always tried their hardest to hide Kane’s and Undertaker’s previous personas from casual, non-hardcore fans to the highest degree. I’m going to assume that Kane is now retired for all intents and purposes?

I’m going to assume that Kane is now retired for all intents and purposes? I’d say so. Like, if he’s going to be staying in politics, it isn’t exactly like he’s going to have much time and his last Rumble appearance seemed like both him going for a run and putting someone over and also showing he wouldn’t exactly look credible as the Kane he once was (not shaming but he has...the body type of a mayor, let’s put it that way).

So like... was Unabomb supposed to be like... the wrestling Unabomber? Or is that just a very strange coincidence.

What did y’all think of tonight’s Macho Man biography? I liked parts of it, but it kinda seemed like they were piling on him at times. I think I now have an idea why Macho never came back to WWE.

I dont know what Lawler was talking about when he talked about Vince looking for Savage backstage and someone pointing out that he was on WCW, since Macho left on good terms long before Nitro started. I get the feeling he mixed him up with Rick Rude (except RAW the night Rude was on both shows was pre-taped).

I mean, it's not like they piled on him for false reasons (if they did, that would be the only way they'd discuss...IT). But yeah. I feel like they saved this for the week when DSOTR was premiering. And it was easier to use this tone because despite what people say not to do, it IS easier to speak ill of the dead. (I think Austin had some say into what was discussed and what wasn't, for instance)

I get the feeling he mixed him up with Rick Rude (except RAW the night Rude was on both shows was pre-taped). Lawler has said that multiple times, including in his 2003 book. He also didn't immediately replace Savage like he's claimed except for the very first week. After the first week, Jim Cornette, Shawn Michaels, and Ted DiBiase took turns being Vince's partner, and Lawler didn't become the full time color commentator for Raw until after WrestleMania 11.

Also, surprised to see ICW (Poffo) footage on what is ostensibly a WWE show. I'm guessing it was from Lanny's personal collection (and the Memphis stuff was from Lawler's).

The tone in this one was much different than Austin’s and Piper’s episodes. Just seemed like they focused more on negative stuff, especially in the last half.

That Dan Soder guy is a f***wit. Like came across as a f***ing tactless moron regarding Randy’s death.
I didn’t watch the Piper/Austin one. I get peoples confused reaction at the lack of consistency but..”history written winners” blah blah..
The Gorgeous George camera thing was creep-ay if true. And kind of unrelated but it’s weird to have Hogan come off as Mr cool and collected during stuff like this when..yeah.
Also:
Vince: Randy was a lot smaller than the rest of his peers
*literally a second later*
Vince: I think he was insecure about his size.
Bless you Vince.

Each one of these docs has a different set of producers/directors. The main guy who did this one seems to focus on drugs and other negative topics in his previous work so that isn’t surprising.

I have no idea why they thought it was appropriate for Bubba the Love Sponge to be on there. Yeesh.

Yeah, Bubba the Love Sponge really took me out of the Randy doc.
Additionally, I know we as wrestling fans can't realistically expect non-wrestling entities to be a stickler for 100% accuracy in their documentaries - but after how much they got right with the Piper doc I was stunned to see how much outright falsehoods were in the Randy doc.
Like, not merely people misremembering, but just full-fledged inaccuracies that nobody fact-checked.
I'm also personally disappointed that they didn't go into details about Randy's actual struggles with clinical OCD. They really painted him as "looked at this drugged up paranoid obsessive weirdo" and not someone with a serious mental illness who somehow thrived in an industry that was particularly triggering that found peace once he got actual professional medical help.
Lanny's short-lived podcast did a much better job painting a picture of Randy's struggles.

Wait, they also spelled "Lex Luger" as "Lex Lugar?" Christ, this is a documentary that had to go through some sort of quality control reviews. That's embarrassing.
