I’ve been rewatching some of his stuff lately so figured it was about time for a general thread since I can’t remember the last time we had a Norm Macdonald thread.
Also, I thought of substituting his infamous SNL monologue for Drew McIntyre. Like...
Drew McIntyre: When Vince McMahon asked me to come back to WWE, I’ve got to say, I felt kind of weird. I don’t know if you remember this, but I used to actually be in WWE. I used to wrestle with 3MB, you remember that? That’s where I lost the make-believe squash matches. That was me, you know? So then, a few years ago, I had sort of a disagreement with Vince McMahon. I wanted to keep my job. Right? And he felt the exact opposite. He fired me because they said that I wasn’t entertaining. Now, with most jobs, I could have had a hell of a lawsuit on my hands for that, but see, this is an entertainment show. So, they got me. But, now, this is the weird part, it’s only a few years later, and now, they ask me to main event WrestleMania. So I wondered, how did I go from being not entertaining enough to be even allowed in the locker room, to being so entertaining that I’m now main eventing WrestleMania? How did I suddenly get so goddamn entertaining?! It was inexplicable to me, because, let’s face it, a few years is not enough time for a dude to learn how to be entertaining! Then it occurred to me, I haven’t gotten more entertaining, WWE has gotten really bad! So, yeah, I’m entertaining compared to, you know, what you’ll see later. Okay, so let’s recap, the bad news is: I’m still not entertaining. The good news is: WWE blows! Alright, folks, we’ve got a great show for you tonight! Bad Bunny is here. We’ll be right back!

got to see him do stand up live a few years back, good times

One of my all-time favorite standups and SNL castmembers. His book is a great read, too.

"My doctor wants me to stop smoking, he showed me an x-ray of a smokers lung and I was all "thats awful, put it away!". Then he showed me an x-ray of a healthy lung and I was all "thats awful, put it away!" (not sure if that's exactly how it goes)

A few months back, I listened to the audiobook of his “memoir”. It might be the most meta thing I’ve ever experienced. I don’t even know how to describe it, except to say that it’s perfectly Norm.

That movie is so under appreciated. And I totally remember that monologue, wanna say it was Falll 1999 when The Norm Show was hot

His faux mea culpa to OJ Simpson is one of the best parts of the book. "OJ may have been one of the greatest rushers of all time, but in the end I was the greatest rusher to judgement."

When I first started consistently watching SNL, he was the weekend update guy. And man I loved his sense of humor.
They couldn't have picked a worse replacement than Colin Quinn. To me, there was nothing remotely funny about him.

His Sports show that was one Comedy Central’s brief experiments should have lasted a lot longer

His Sports show that was one Comedy Central’s brief experiments should have lasted a lot longer Fun fact: current SNL castmember Kyle Mooney was on Sports Show doing man-on-the-street interview segments as Norm's awkward nephew before getting cast on SNL.

I'm an absolutely huge Norm fan. His podcast Norm Macdonald Live, especially the first two seasons, are probably my favorite thing he's ever done. They're up on the internet archive. The Larry King episode is my favorite, but they're all wonderful: archive.org/details/Norm_Macdonald_Live

Never got his appeal, especially on SNL. He has a few funny jokes here and there, but the internet makes him seem like he's some sort of comedic powerhouse.

I love his surprise appearance on the last Conan Tonight show where he brings out a gift basket he procrastinated on giving him and reads the card he sent to him
"congratulations Conan on finally securing your place as permanent host of The Tonight Show. That's something they could never take away from you..."
