I couldn’t decide what board to post this on, so I chose this one. This “Hawkamania” YouTube channel has rapidly become my favourite wrestling related one to turn to since I’m a fan of the comedic side of the sport (and no, not what Vince finds funny, especially in 2021).
Right now, it’s main focus is on TNA, which I never paid much attention to since they never developed any inroads in Canada or was even available on TV most of the time. One of their features is grading the tenures of ex-WWE stars who had short stints in the company. Rikishi, Scott Hall, Black Reign (jokingly referred to as “Fat Reign” in his videos) are the ones I’ve watched so far along with the increasing stupidity of Abyss’s booking through his career. I have to say, I got to give Abyss props for having to go through all the booking he had to endure that would have made Kane do that blinking eye thing. I laughed for about five minutes when I saw the highlight of him attempting to chokeslam Misty the Rat! Did Russo book this? At least that was an entertaining train wreck.
I’ve got to say, I almost felt sorry for Fat Reign’s booking but then I realized this was around the same time he was booked to appear on a tribute show to Bad News Allen in May 2007 which was also attended by legends like Abdullah the Butcher, Tito Santana and Jim Neidhart along with Samoa Joe. The promoter of the show, Kurt Sorochan, has a good relationship with Lance Storm and has a good reputation for making good on his promises to get ‘name’ talent to appear. Unfortunately, Dustin decided to demand more money for the show and when Kurt decided to accede, Dustin no-showed anyway. Kurt justifiably buried him on the mic that night and I think the Black Reign character was karma for that cheap stunt Dustin pulled off a few months earlier.
So far, a select few wrestlers have been given “B”s for their short <30 match stints. The channel also includes 10 ways on how TNA wasted money, a perspective on the 2010 Monday Night Wars and how Jeff Jarrett had a worse reign of terror than HHH.
