It doesn't help that they keep doing the stupid thing where they announce an interview with Sting, have Tony do the "It's Sting!!!!" and then never let him really talk. He should be cutting promos as vignettes every time. That was old weeks ago. It reminds me of how WWE takes one thing that was cool once and then running it into the ground because "if it worked once, it must work every single time we do it." They stopped doing it for a few weeks before tonight, tonight almost felt like them killing it for good with Sting and Lance's conflict.

Doesn't help that they also have Christian doing it. Christian wasn't interviewed every week though? Week one Omega interrupted his stuff before he even came out, which lead to a standoff, next week he spoke about how he needed to work up the rankings, week three he was talking to Dante and the Varsity Blondes about their match and it set up the match with Kaz. Then he wrestled Kaz and won. This week he got a follow up interview where he talked about beating Kaz, and Taz approached him with an offer to join his faction and to think about it. Christian's more flowing through different ways of being presented than being in a time loop.

I will say if you must keep Sting and Darby together, then I demand Darby vs. Archer in a Coal Miner's Glove Match.

I'm still liking the pairing personally.

I can see why some might feel that way but I feel like they've used him better in recent weeks. Having him ringside putting over him and Silver was an awesome visual. Yeah, it's grown on me more. They just need to cut back on the other stuff because the stuff that does work really works.

If he's good to go, you could easily have Darby and Sting recruit Archer to take on Hardy/Butcher/Blade in six man on one of the taped shows. Plus Butcher and Blade worked DDP's last match so you know they know how to be safe out there.

I don't think it's a bad pairing, but the repetitive weekly interview reeks of WWE's "we don't know where we're going with this yet, so we're stalling for weeks" booking strategy. Reminds me of the shit with Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt where we got weeks of nothing but crazy laughing.
I know AEW's poking fun at themselves over it, but being self-aware while doing a thing doesn't stop that thing from being problematic. They need to move on and figure out a better way to work Sting into the weekly programming.
