Mind blown.
I knew Gorilla did some commentary quite late into the Attitude era, but not this late. And he's still being talked about as WWF President, asked for his thoughts on Austin vs. Vince for control of the company!? In kayfabe, what the hell has he been doing throughout the screwjob, the formation of the Corporation, Michaels being appointed commissioner etc.?
Of course, it's great to hear Gorilla and I'd love to hear more of these rare gems.

Could you imagine Gorilla Monsoon being commentary for shit like Sable getting her tits out or the attempted Val castration?

Two questions.
A) Superstars? By 99 it became a recap show similar to live wire the day before. B) This was right before King Of The Ring 99. Monsoon was still referred to as president? McMahons had been the authority for quite some time by then.
Nevertheless, cool to see. A little out of place, but it’s a bit comforting to see Gorilla still have his faculties and doing something he enjoyed during his final months.

It was likely Shotgun Saturday Night, or simply Shotgun as it was known in the day. It was before the show became Jakked/Metal, which was the same show but different names because of time slots.

Monsoon's commentary was only for the Canadian version of Shotgun, which may have been called Superstars.

Canada and the UK got a different version of Superstars from the U.S. where they re-aired Shotgun matches with new commentary.

In this one he doesn't really mention people by name.

What is the tattoo gimmick with Val they were referring to? I don't remember that at all. I do seem to remember Droz and Albert piercing people.

Val won, and thusly "tattooed" a "VV" on Albert's....I forget where?

I remember this, it was Shotgun which was mostly Stars v jobbers or very low carders - so you'd get the DOA and Too Much, or the Hardys before their big break. Monsoon did regular commentary on the UK version throughout summer 1999, and was referenced to as Mr President, which confused the younger me, but I didn't realise till much later that I'd been listening to some of the last commentary Monsoon ever did.
At the time Livewire was the recap show, and Shotgun the jobber showcase. Some of whom I thought were proper WWF stars - Knuckles Nelson, Hack Myers, Devon Storm. The latter became Crowbar in WCW!

I talked to his daughter on Facebook she said around that time he could no longer drive due to his illness so Vince would send a limo to his house in Central New Jersey just to drive him back and forth to Stamford CT to record the voiceovers

I remember in recent years matches surfacing with Gorilla commentary that featured Christopher Daniels and Blue Meanie, which is absolutely surreal.

I do remember watching a 98 episode of Superstars with Monsoon calling.
It was an episode showing highlights of a Raw where Ken Shamrock was demanding a WWF Title shot because he was promised one in his contract (or for winning the King Of The Ring) .. and later in the show WWF champion Steve Austin came out to cut promo against McMahon & Co and then said if Shamrock wanted a title shot he could come out he’ll give him one right now, which Shamrock out, quickly followed by McMahon and his stooges to put the kibosh on the impromptu match,.. and then Austin stuns everyone. I think it was leading the Taker v Kane v Austin “triple threat match” for the WWF title that Austin would have been fired if he lost the title. Hence why McMahon did not want Austin in a title match before then..
I remember the Monsoon call cause his co caller said to him that he should step in since he was President and Monsoon just said “Maybe I should”

Rather than just bin him, he went the extra mile to keep him in the fold.
